Blue & Gold Door Prize

Last year our pack gave all of our Scouts at our Blue & Gold tickets for a door prize. The prize was a back pack with a few scout items inside (a small 1st aid kit, whistle water bottle etc). We are in the final stages of planning this years B&G and are trying to come up with ideas for a give-a-way. We would like to do something a little differnt to keep it fresh. We have a limited budget and having trouble coming up with different items that the boys would appreciate and are practical won't break the bank. Has anyone done something similar at their B&G that they wouldn't mind sharing?

If you are an "outgoing" type, check with your local stores and restaurants. We have spoken to the various managers/owners and have never been turned down when we ask for a "coupon" for a free ice cream cone, burrito, taco, burger, etc. as a door prize or prize for a neckerchief slide contest, best Patrol, uniform inspection, etc.

First prize is four various coupons, second is two, third and honorable mention is one...It's good PR, the name of the outfit is on the coupon, they get a mention in the event program, and without exception they like to support Scouting. Don't forget to have your CC send a thank you note.

We have done this in several of our last Blue and Gold. Local buisness in your area may have things like frizbee's, water bottles with there name on them. One year we got a lot of stuff from a U.S. Army recruter. I have given out neckerchief slides that I did as a project at Roundtable.
