Sarge
Until they reach Webelos rank, we require a parent/guardian to be present. A few situations have come up where the parent will be arriving late, and the boy comes with a friend and their parent. As long as that second parent is responsible for the boy, we allow the primary parent to come later on.
wolfmama500
This is my first post and I want to say something...Our Pack tried the "giving every scout a chance to go camping" when parents couldn't go with them and last year we had the sad situation of kids bringing sacks of candy and all kind of junk into the camp. We had 1 webelo overdue the gatorade fest to wash down the bag of marshmellows he ate after having the Pack meal, a wolf eating a bag of cheetos to counter the sugar rush he got from marshmellows AND all kind of candy being given to other scouts present. None the less, the leaders had told them to put all the snacks away but they didnt listened. By 8:00pm we had at least 3 scouts throwing up and seriously sick not to talk about rakoons and other animals that came to the camp after smelling the open food on the tent, keeping the CM and other males in camp up all night trying to rush them away. To correct that situation this year we implemented new rules for campers, no scout can go without an adult. That will keep our chasing down the scouts to a halt and the leaders being able to enjoy the camping trip with their kids instead that in charge of the den. MomToEli
We have had a couple of instances where another parent will take responsibility for another boy. We've not had any problems, but it has been the exception. Like one or two boys out of 30-40 boys. Remember that under no circumstances can a boy sleep in the tent of any adult other than his parent or guardian. No matter what. Sick - storms - scared - whatever. And no adult can enter that child's tent without two deep leadership. Or the shower. Or the outhouse. No.Matter.What. Even at resident camp. So, be sure to take extra tents that you can put two or three boys in for the night.
