Lady_Leigh67
Last week was our very first Cub Scout Day Camp for our new Pack to participate in. We had 5 boys go! It was hot, hot, hot, but tons of fun! I helped 2 and 1/2 days and another parent did 2 and 1/2 days. I was amazed that our boys were really, really good. They listened, shared, and helped each other out. Not that they were perfect, but they were really good. Some of the other boys in our same color group were not so nice with each other. And neither were some of the other group guides. So much so, that the DE had to make a comment during the morning announcements that parents need to be nice to each other, even those not from your Pack! Next year, we plan on getting more boys involved since we know what is going on. Also, insisting that someone from Council show up to give the presentation about what day camp is! Our presenter never showed this year. Well, we have not had any of the scheduled presentations show at all this year for us (FOS, Day Camp/Resident Camp, or Spring Round-up). Anyway, we had a great experience with Day Camp and look forward to a fun time next year too!
Tami the Mom
Fantastic! We're still gearing up for camp. Yes, it is sometimes harder to get the grown-ups to get along than it is the boys! Talk to this year's camp director and program director. In our council, we're the ones who do what we call "travelling roadshows". They are mostly requested for B&G banquets. I am camp director, and this year I took one or two people from my staff with me to every roadshow I did, to help answer questions and for moral support. We got to enjoy about a dozen tasty banquets!
