scottteng
Pineapples with maybe a blue and gold ribbon. Let the families take them home when banquet over.
ScoutNut
Palm Trees Leis Coconut cups with paper flowers Pineapples Outriggers Parrots Grass Skirts Sea Shells Something with hello & good-by written in different languages. It kind of depends just where your Pack is going with the Aloha theme. Check out the Programs Helps. They always have centerpiece or craft ideas. Also Baloo's Bugle is a good resource for theme related stuff. Take a look at Oriental Trading Company. They have a lot of tropical stuff. Your local Party Store or $1 Store are good bets too. SSScout
Don't forget the grass skirt for the Cub Master And Volcanoes are always popular(think Mauna Kea.. Pele...) .Make a paper mache mountain, with a small caldera on top.A little red food coloring, Bicarbonate of soda and vinegar make a respectable lava flow. Experiment outside to see the effect before you commit to a public display. If you have a chemist in your circle, see if he can obtain some Ammonium Bichromate. In good ventilation, On an old cookie sheet, mounded up a heaping tablespoon of the Am BiChr. , drop a couple of drops of alcohol on the top. CAREFULLY light a match and set fire to the alcohol (sometimes it is not needed). The orange crystaline Am BiChro. will burn, turn green and QUINTUBLE in volume, making a nice simulated cinder cone. Aloha!
