SaintCad
My den is planning to do a lot of conservation work this year. Is it possible that a Cubby can win this award or is it limited to Boy Scouts or Venturers?
ScoutNut
No, neither a Cub Scout Den, nor an individual Cub Scout can earn a Hornaday Award. However, a Cub Scout PACK can earn a William T. Hornaday unit certificate. The requirements are : "A Hornaday unit certificate, No. 21-110, is awarded to a pack, troop, team, or crew of five or more Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, or Venturers for a unique, substantial conservation project. At least 60 percent of the registered unit members must participate. These units may be nominated, or they may apply to their BSA local council for recognition." ScoutNut
One other thing - the Pack should have a Conservation Advisor to help with the project & teach the boys. These projects are NOT just picking up litter in a park or recycling cans.

nldscout
If you read the requirements for unit award a Pack does not qualify. The wording is a liitle unclear "A Hornaday unit certificate, No. 21-110, is awarded to a pack, troop, team, or crew of five or more Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, or Venturers for a unique, substantial conservation project. ScoutNut
A Pack DOES qualify for a Unit Certificate. The requirements specifically state a PACK is included & the award application has a spot to pick Cub Scout Pack and add the unit number.
