Any ideas would be appreciated. Do you have a booklet, info packet (NOT A LIST OF RULES) just info that new parents would want to know.

thanks in advance

p.s for those that remember our struggling/dying pack. we have picked up 2 new cubs and 2 who are thinking about it still from the spring recruitment. 4 joined another pack so all in all it was a good nite for the first spring recruiting effort. One of those boys wanted to join our pack but I discouraged him and his mom as we don't have any weebelos II he would be better off with the other group. But did make me feel good that they liked us...lol

love this scouting stuff.

Back in my Cubbing days, we gave the parents an information packet. I believe it was just a two-sided newsletter format. Here's some of the contents:

- It described what dens are and how they fit into the pack.

- It talked about the den leader and the need for parents to be involved.

- It gave the fee structure and what comprised those fees.

- It highlighted some of the key events.

- When den meetings and pack meetings were held.

- What they needed for their uniform.

And, it talked about the value of scouting and how they were embarking on a great journey with their son.

Greetings,

Our council (Transatlantic Council - www.tac-bsa.org) put together a flyer for Cubs and Boy Scout recruiting. I just added our contact details. I also made business cards to give to perspective Cub families. Aside from having to write your details on old ATM receipts when you're out, it adds a touch of professionalism. Thus far we have about five interested families.

We also invite perspective Cub families to our Spring Cub Adventure Weekend near London. British Scouts also attend this event, and it is a great opportunity for the families to see all the great things Scouting has to offer.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

J

Here are some ideas (I like what EagleInKY wrote, too):

Something on the vision of Scouting

Quick highlights of big events (e.g. Pinewood Derby)

Calendar for the year

List of what uniform items they need

Directions to the Scout store

How the Committee/Den Leaders work

Dues and what they pay for

Contact information for the leaders

Cheat sheet on insignia placement, specific to your pack

How to join the pack mailing list

How to get started camping

And, of course, all the extra rules that your pack has
