JoeBob
For River Rescue School, you just can't beat Nantahala Outdoor Center: http://www.noc.com/noccom/outdoor-school/river-leadership-courses/water-rescue/ I took this course 30 years ago as a private citizen. Dynamite knowledge, well explained, demonstrated, practiced and tested. Forceful presentations, like how to recover a body from a foot entrapment drowning. Z-drags and rope-work. le Voyageur
This pdf link should help... http://bsa-brmc.org/images/stories/PDFs/ncs%20national%20camping%20school%202012.pdf A number of years back, had expressed that the Trek Leader cert be split into a wet, and dry side. That is happening this year, means that those trek leaders who will run and over see white water programs and/or canoe treks at their Council summer camp, won't have to hoof it with the backpackers. resqman
Thanks for the link. $455 is little steep for me. I used to hold a national swiftwater rescue technician certificate so it would be fun to renew old knowledge.
le Voyageur
You'll need your Council's permission to attend. National Camp School training is paid for by your local council, provided you are serving as a staff member of their summer camp program, and you need the cert for the Camp to meet National Standards.(This message has been edited by le Voyageur)
le Voyageur
We've now started the planning for the Course. Overall, from the schedule I've seen, it's going to be an intense week of swiftwater training, which will include a day of rafting the New River Gorge...if you've been sitting on the fence thinking about directing your summer camp high adventure canoe trek, nows the time to talk to your Council for a seat with us....
