Balding Eagle
Just returned from Summer Camp and looking for a New Camp within 4-5 hours driving time from NJ. Any suggestions?
OldGreyEagle
Are you talking Delaware Water Gap or Cape May?
Balding Eagle
More like the Gap. Our Troop is located in Central Jersey.
OldGreyEagle
There are the two Council Camps of Minsi Trails Council. Part of the Council is in New jersey and its headquartered in Allentown, PA http://www.minsitrails.com/camping/BoyScout/CampMinsi/camp_minsi.asp http://www.minsitrails.com/camping/boyscout/camptrexler/settlers_camp.asp They may be worth looking into
scoutmomma
Try Ockanickon Scout Reservation in Bucks County Council, Pipersville, PA or Treasure Island Scout Reservation in Cradle of Liberty Council, also in Pipersville, PA.
k9gold-scout
TMR in upstate NY (NY Council) or White Mountain adventure base NH (Boston Council)
beaver1onit
You might want to try Goose Pond in Northeastern Pa Council. nepabsacamps.org
Hawk
Resica Falls Scout Reservation. 4,200 acres north of Marshalls Creek. www.colbsa.org Tuckahoe Scout Reservation - Just north of Gettysburg - One of the best programs and camp staff for summer camp. http://www.yaac-bsa.org
OldGreyEagle
Then there is Hawk Mountain http://www.hmsr.org/ it's off Interstate 78 just before you get to Cabels's comming out of Allentown. I have been to Goose Pond,(the Dinning Hall is a treat) Ockanickon, Tuckahoe and driven by Ressica Falls many times on the way up to Pecks Pond. The eastern part of PA is crawling with scout camps.(This message has been edited by OldGreyEagle)
scoutmaster52
I agree with Goose Pond, but would also include Tuscarora Scout Reservation in Deposit NY ans Elk Lick Scout Reserve in Smethport Pa.
scottteng
our guys are a bunch of water babies. The Eagle already has a job as a lifeguard at a city pool and two others are taking the course in summer camp. Snorkeling cert is required for some camping trips and we have many certified divers. This would be the choice due to the coastal location: http://baitinghollowscoutcamp.org/

OldGreyEagle
I was so wrapped up in the Camps of eastern PA, I forgot to mention Camp Rodney on the Chesapeake
theysawyoucomin'
you don't say what part of Jersey. Camp Wakpominee is owned by Twin Rivers Council BSA. Wakpominee is 20 minutes from lake George of Last of the Mohicans fame. Judging by plates on cars half of NJ is in Lake George anyways. Cmon up and try the camp out. rwwilly
Just got back from Broad Creek Mem. Scout Res, arford county MD. Had a great time. They have a new camp director, first time in 20+ yrs. Old one was good, but things were stale. We've been there 5 yrs. in a row. Next yr we are going to a different camp. Only because we live 20 minutes from the camp. To easy for parent intervention. But the camp is good. They have a great older boy program "Lost Pines", I highly recommend it.
