tgorham136
Ramp door or barn doors for the Troop trailer? Looking to get a Trailer for my sons troop.
raisinemright
Barn. We had this discussion when hunting for a used trailer. You'll rarely have stuff heavy enough that you'll need wheels. You can also hang stuff on the inside doors. I'd really like to have one where the door opens up and becomes an overhang.
dg98adams
I can see an advantage of the side-hinged doors over the ramp. Aside from the previous poster's post (hanging items on the doors); sometimes when it's rainy, 1 door partially open keeps the inside from getting wet. BrentAllen
Ramp for us. It's not the heavy weight of items, but the number of trips you will make in and out of the trailer that matter. We have two trailers - a small, older one with barn doors, and a newer large one we purchased a couple of years ago, with the ramp. With 6 patrols worth of gear (patrol gear box, food box, cooler) it is nice having the ramp to get in and out with. When we go to Summer Camp, each patrol also has a second, large food box, and second, large cooler. The ramp works well for our Troop.
Eagle732
Barn, unless you have wheeled equipment, then you might want a ramp.
packsaddle
This unit has a trailer with barn doors. Nothing we have is heavy enough to require wheels. For quite a while we operated the entire troop out of the trailer when our 'hut' was demolished. I have never given the ramp a single thought. I HAVE, on several occasions, wished that persons towing the trailer would crank up the tongue jack all the way before they move it...but that's another thread.
