Fat Old Guy
I was at Target again today (sometimes I think that my wife owns the place) and they had single mantle propane lanterns on clearance for about $5. I didn't buy a lantern but I did get a toaster for a propane stove for 99 cents.

nldscout
Drip coffee makers while camping? Camp coffee is supposed to be strong, and crunchy from the grounds. This takes all the fun out of it.
Fat Old Guy
Drip coffee? I might as well have one of those "Coffee presses" loved by the Starbucks crowd. I like my beat up percolator.
evmori
Yep. Drip coffee! No chunks or hunks you don't want! Excellent!
nldscout
I looked at one of them. The thing I didn't like was after brewing you have to take off the heat. So coffee can't sit and steep till its properly bitter.
evmori
Therin lies the talent! Low flame for warming. Never bitter only better!
EagleInKY
Just be careful. If you have it too hot, the heat will melt the plastic. I had to surgically separate the basket from frame the first time we took one with us. We've now got the proper heating down to a science. And, we bought a backup just in case!!! Eamonn
I never thought of myself as part of the Starbucks crowd (The nearest one is about 50 miles away.) But I always take my French Coffee press to camp. Has anyone bought the new instant hot water heater that Coleman has? Eamonn
OldGreyEagle
I heard next year Coleman is supposed to come out with a propane powered microwave oven
evmori
We made a propane powered light as a gag last year at camp! Had everyone going! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:

Fat Old Guy
"Has anyone bought the new instant hot water heater that Coleman has?" Instant? Just add water? BTW, you guys and your color choices are getting bothersome.

AK-Eagle
I got one of those lexan coffee presses from Campmor... Even have some the scouts that want coffee (with parents nod) trained in it's proper use.... nothing like getting a fresh hot cup of coffee delivered to your tent first thing in the morning. Through experimentation I figured out that I can stuff the premeasured ziploc bags of coffee into the press and save space in the backpack.
