If you're reading this on your wireless laptop in camp in the middle of the boundry waters . . . Have Fun!

(Sigh) Maybe the boundary waters are fully equipped for wireless internet communications yet. But a geek can hope.

  • 2 weeks later...

We just returned from our BWCA trip yesterday. It was a great time! We drove the 12 hours to Ely, MN and when we got there it was 44 degrees and raining (Yes, this is August!) Fortunately the rain ended and we had cool ( 60's - 70's) but sunny week. We did manage to see a moose, otter, wolf, and lots of bald eagles in additon to the chipmunks, squirrels, etc. Also caught a couple of nice Northern Pike and friend them up. Our scouts did a good job both canoeing and portaging.

Kenk - no internet access, but surprisingly the Verizon cellular worked all week!

We had 2 crews that returned on the 18th from Northern Tier Bisset.

The scenery was incredible. We too caught some pike and fried them up.

The weather was great. We had a couple days of rain but when the sun was out , the temperature was in the 80 degree range.

Some of our boys saw a 2 moose. We all saw some beavers, otters, bald eagles, loons. Half the crew had close encounters with leaches.

The first couple of portages were rough(not used to carrying 80-90 loads). The portages trails are not well used and in some cases over grown with trees. By the end of our 75 mile trip, the portages were a lot easier.

Fun was had by all. This was truly a great experience.

Glad to here you had a great time.

Mario
