eisely
Our troop is tentatively scheduled for a trek of some kind over spring break in 2004, the last week of March. We are in the San Francisco Bay area and I would like some suggested destinations and itineraries for a trek in Southern California. I am thinking of Ventura County, the San Gabriel Mountains, the San Bernardino Mountains, the area around San Jacinto, and any other place that somebody may suggest. Your suggestions are eagerly awaited.
le Voyageur
For Southern California, two treks come to mind, both on the Pacific Crest Trail.... starting at Julian (this town is off trail, but a great place to start), and ending at Idyllwild. or, starting at Idyllwild and ending at Big Bear... FScouter
The Silver Moccasin trail from Chantry Flat (above Pasadena) to Vincent Gap is 50 miles. That will take you over the top of Mt. Baden-Powell, 9400'. The LA Area Council offers a High Adventure award for this trek.
