Knot sizes

Not wanting to get into a discussion about wearing knots, but....

 

I recently received the new Unit Leader Award which comes with a new SM patch and gold on black square knot. However, the knot is a different size than all the other knots I have. The old knots were about 1-5/8" by 3/4". The new knot is 1-7/8" x 1". I know a quarter of an inch in each direction doesn't sound like much, but when it is sewn on the uniform, it really stands out.

 

Who at National in their infinite wisdom made this brilliant decision?

My guess would be that they are outsourcing orders to cheap, overseas companies, and the QC is just not there.

I too had a problem with that when I bought one or two extra DAMs a few months back. Maybe national is changing the size of them?

 

Naw i think it's poor quality control, kinda like the orignal NESA Life Member Eagle knots.

Weird. That's quite a size difference. Haven't seen any like that 'round about, but then haven't been lookin'.

Y'all need to complain to National about that. They can't fix it if we don't let them know there's a problem.

I received the same knot and noticed the difference. I had to trim the background to the embroidered part. It appeared to not have been done properly when it was manufactured. At the same time, I heated the edges to avoid the sides from fraying.

That will sure make it difficult to get seven rows of knots on a uniform!
