Actually, its now the Scouter's Key, and is just a green and white knot. The background cloth is not important, and was available on khaki, forest green, white, and navy for Scoutmasters, Advisors, and Skippers. Its now only available on tan, tho you can get 'repros' on green, white, and navy.

The Silver Beaver knot was also once available on forest green, white, and navy. Again, you have to go elsewhere for those.

The solid green knot is the Scouter's Training Award.

 

As to #4, according to a story on Mike "Settummanque-Black Eagle" Walton's Know award website, it started as a local-joke patch known as the "Why Knot" to recognize newer scout volunteers:

If I recall...Purple and white. There are a set of requirements to earn this--there are five categories of requirements and you need to complete 6 of the total of 15 requirements out of at least 3 categories to earn it. Some of the options include being on staff/attending a world jamboree, participate with scouts in a scouting event in their nation, host scouts from another nation at some of your scouting events, take up a collection for the World Brotherhood of Scouting fund at two different events, etc. I'm close to finishing it. One of the advantages of living in a border state.

This knot represents one of several awards given by Community Orgs that are National Partners with the BSA. These awards are approved by the BSA, and follow a basic requirements criteria, but they are owned/managed by the Community Org. Similiar to the Religious Award knots, except that the BSA is specific about what awards are part of this.

 

So far, this knot represents the following awards:

Professional Circle or Fellowship Honor Knot

 

The Professional circle is awarded to career Scouters who have completed at least four years of professional tenure, all three levels of basic professional development ( PD-L1, PD-L2, and PD-L3), and three other courses from an approved list. Recognition consists of a wall certificate and, of course, the black on-white square knot for wear on the field uniform.

 

The Fellowship Honor requires completion of the Professional Circle, two more courses from the approved list, and a pre-approved thesis. Recognition includes a handsome certificate and a gold pin to be worn on the square knot.

 

These recognitions are available to professionals only and demonstrate a desire for professional improvement.
