buffaloSE583
I have a problem with my service stars staying on. The backings tend to 'pop-off' under the shirt and the next thing I know, the star is gone. Any ideas?
trlarue
Have you tried an eraser tip for the back?
Gonzo1
Welcome to the forum. Try taking a pocket knife and "score" the post of the pin a few times making several, small lines in it that go around the post. When you put on the clutch back, there is something extra to hold on to. I don't wear service stars, but this worked well for my military medal/ribbon holders and name tags. Happy New Year. kjmillig
Push down and in on the little wings on the clutch back. This will often tighten the grip. I haven't lost a star or clutch back in years.
Fuzzy Bear
When I wore things with clutch backs, I found that they were loose because shirt material does not have the width necessary to keep the pin embedded properly. I began using a piece of one-sixteenth inch thick cardboard between the star and the clutch back, meaning the pin goes through the cardboard. This stabilized the mechanism and kept it from releasing when there was upper body movement. fb
MarkS
I hate those clutch mechanisms on pins. Don't like them poking my chest. If they're optional, I don't wear them.(This message has been edited by MarkS)
k9gold-scout
Wrap the post with a small bit of 00 steal wool and put an extra back on the reverse side of the uniform.
