fleece pants?

Please forgive what I'm sure is a clue-less question. But I'm curious and who better to ask than you guys?

When you ask about putting fleece pants on under the new scout pants...what sort of fleece pants are these? I'm envisioning something thick-ish kind of like sweat pants and in that case you'd need really large scout pants over top and you'd look like the stay-puff marshmallow man (which doesn't sound very comfortable either). That can't be it. Help me out here.

The best are the thin ones from West Marine. You surely don't need the thick expedition weights you get at REI or hunting stores. On really cold days, I wear the thin ones under my snowboarding pants. I sleep in them when the temp dips below 30 on campouts. I can be found bumping around the house on weekends in them if there is a nip in the air.

They are thin enough not to require an upsize on the pants.

Lisa,

Depends on your part of the country, Way up north or way down south?

Go to an Army Navy surplus store and get regular type long johns for moderately cold weather or army "issue" polypropylene (commonly called polypro) for colder weather. A polypro neck gaitor workd well to keep neck and ear covered and warm as well.

I'm not sure about sleeping in the stuff, I usually sleep in the skivvies, no t-shirt (you'll probably want one just in case) and I use a sleeping bag rated to zero degrees and I and warm when I wake up.

I hope this helps.
