Temporary insignia part 2 - jackets

Right now my son is the only one in his troop wearing temp. insig. on his sash, but I think it will start something good.

 

Today's question is regarding same on scout jackets - "back in the day" when I was a youth (early 70's) we wore patches on the rear of the red jacket only, the front was reserved for the standard BSA patch and the Philmont Bull. Any such rules around today?

Page 5 of the 2003 - 2005 Insignia Guide covers Jackets and their Insignia.

In a nut-shell it states that the Universal emblem is worn on the left pocket or if the jacket is the nylon jacket, in that area.

The Philmont bull is specifically designed for the red wooljac-shirt.

There is a list of what 6-inch patches can be worn on the back, but states only one can be worn.

Hope this helps. You might want to see if the Troop has a copy of the guide in the Troop Library. But they are real cheap you might want to donate one?

I don't have a copy of the Insignia Guide, but I'm betting there is nothing in it about wearing the big rectangular Jambo patch (found in the Jambo catalog) on the back of the shirt-jac is there? It would sure look good stitched on the back!

My bad - had the guide in the car and didn't even think of checking. I think the Jambo patch is fine, as long as it's the only one? Our council has a neat patch for Jambo that would look great there, too.
