Apache Bob
Well if have read everything and now know something about Philmont and urban legends (good and bad). I have been to Philmont, have a red jacket and a black bull. Also got my boots branded. Seems like this has gone to the bull now.
Gold Winger
Apache Bob, bear in mind that urban legends are different than tradition. BeeDubya doesn't understand the difference but there's much about this world that BeeDubya doesn't understand.
JakeH
I would personally only wear the Philmont Bull if I had ever been to Philmont, which I have. I just went this past summer. As for the tail position, I would think that it wouldn't matter. Well it wouldnt matter to me because I hiked both Baldy and the Tooth but seeing as almost every itinerary involves the Tooth of Time, I would say maybe that is the choice. But something so miniscule as whether the tail is up or down is indifferent to me. It is still the logo of Philmont. And everyone knows what it is. TenBears
Gee....almost hate to resurrect this thread, but...... The tail over the shoulder means you climbed/hiked the Tooth. End of story. Of course, that's according to the numerous rangers and other staff members I spoke with during my two treks back in the 1970s, but hey, they weren't store clerks or training center directors trying to make the newbs feel included, so I guess one may wish to take it with a grain of salt.... lol(This message has been edited by TenBears)
UCEagle72
I concur with Ten Bears. In fact, we had two adults who did not complete the Tooth climb in my '72 crew, and therefore did NOT put the tail over their shoulder.
