ScouterPaul
I'm curious what are the Troop Policies concerning Neckerchiefs being worn over or under the collar?
eagle90
We tell our scouts to turn their collar under when they wear the neckerchief.
Bob White
We leave it to the decision of the Patrol Leaders Council. Bob
BlueRidgeMountains
We(PLC)decided that neckerchiefs stay cleaner when worn under the collar. BSA says either way is "official"

Bob White
So BlueridgeMountains do you mean the boys chose to roll the collar to the inside of the shirt? I am surprised. Our PLCs almost always choose under the collar. Usually it's us old timers who are used to rolling the collar in. k9gold-scout
In the 60's they had uniform shirts whitout collors. These were very popular at summer camp.
lasteagle83
Collarless shirts were available up until the early 80's when the "new" (current) uniform came into being. I never liked the collarless shirt myself - it looked "naked" without a neckerchief.
yaworski
for my part, I like the neckerchief over the collar but I'm in the minority. I think that it looks nicer because the neckerchief doesn't bunch up as badly. Also, it allows the neckerchief to do one of its original jobs, to absorb sweat. Wallace
Recently, I have come across a few references to the old, collarless shirts being worn without neckerchiefs. In our area, they were NEVER worn without neckerchiefs. I have a vivid memory of attending an international scouting event and noticing that all the other nation's scouts had collars on their shirts and wore the neckerchiefs under the collar. We thought that was pretty cool and felt like the "odd cousin".
