killinm
Our Troop uses a plastic file folder box (available at just about any office supply store). Inside this box is are individual folders for each and every scout (and Assistant Scoutmaster) in the troop. Into that folder goes ALL communication handouts, permission slips, info on summer camp, etc., This accomplished two things. 1) puts more responsibility on the boys shoulders to check their folder. 2) Gives you ground to stand on when an upset parent calls, wanting to know why their son was not informed about last weekends outing... All you have to do is ask if their son retrieved his information from his folder? Lastly, if the boy has been absent for several weeks - he still gets all the old info so he knows what happened while he was gone. There is usually too much going on during troop meetings to make absolutly positively certain that you "HAND" communication material to each and every boy. Another thing we do to encourage the boys to arrive "on time" is to pass out tickets to each boy that arrives prior to starting time. At the end of the meeting the PLC draws from the tickets and the winner gets to pick from several $5 - $6 prizes. These tickets are saved throughout the year and a single grand prize is drawn from all tickets at our Christmas dinner.
3forme
I like the idea of the folders for each boy. I have 9 wolf cobs and it gets so confusing. Thanks
