Query on patchs/merit badges

If one was to collect a picture of every US patch/merit badge of BSA from 100 years to present-how many would there be?(This message has been edited by noman)

Likely impossible to say, if you mean "all" of them. Now if you are referring only to merit badge and rank insignia, and only the Boy Scout portion, one could likely come up with a good approximation. Add in the cubs, various senior programs over the years, and Lone Scout, and it would get next to impossible I would think.

Depends a lot on the precision of the question. Every council patch? Every OA patch? Every patch ever available for a National audience? Every camporee patch from every district of every council?

What about various revisions. For example, there have been 9 different Eagle Scout badge versions, consisting of 28 subversions, consisting of 52 total variations (numbers are approximate based on the list on sageventure's site).

 

I only have 4.

 

oaimagaes.com, which tracks only OA items, has over 51,000 images in their database, and that's at one image per item. Not all items have images.

 

For the person who takes the time to add up even one version of every patch (and I'd exclude temporary insiginia because those are effectively infinite), good luck.

I'm not sure... but I'm guessing the picture would be big enough to cover the state of Rhode Island!
