eisely
Many years ago I heard a quote from Bad Powell, "Scouting is a game." I think this reflects a great insight into the mind and motivation of boys. I wonder if anybody can validate the accuracy of the this quote, or if it just another urban myth. Stan Riddle
I can't quote B-P chapter and verse, but I believe the quote is "Scouting is a game with a puropse". Does anyone else know for sure?
PA_Beaver
You can find the references to "a game with a purpose in the following books by BP: Lessons from the Varsity of Life, 1933, and his Aids to Scoutmastership. Excellent references I hear.
scouter659
In an out-of-print paperback called BP's Outlook (which is incredible by the way) there are many references by him in direct quotes and writings where he refers to the movement as a 'Game'. This IS well documented.
