wmjivey
Can anyone give me an update on recieving Eagle letters from the President? I know last year there was alot of discussion on whether or not he would sign them. I thought the conclusion was he will but it takes time. We sent him a request back in October for my son's achievement and still am waiting for an response. Now my youngest son has reached the rank and don't know if we simply wasting time and postage. packsaddle
We had stuff dribbling in a year after. How did you make contact? What was the form of your request?
Beavah
I've certainly seen several. I think da protocol these days is the same as with congressional letters, eh? Email is best. If yeh send a regular post letter to the White House, it gets delayed by months to be screened for biological and chemical contamination and then to get directed to the proper folks to handle such things. Can't find the best link at the moment, but yeh might try usin' the contact for the Office of Public Engagement: http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ope/contact There is also a FAX number for the Greetings Office for requests: 202-456-2461 Beavah
CA_Scouter
Yea, wmjivey, that's all it was: discussion. No facts. Out here on the Left Coast my son received acknowledgements from Obama, Biden, Feinstein and Pelosi in additional to The Governator and our local congresspersons of both parties. Curiously Mike Rowe did not respond. But they did take a while to trickle in, though October seems a bit long...
skeptic
In regard to Mike Rowe, here is a link to his special site for recognition. He set it up specifically for this, as he has so many requests. http://www.mikeroweworks.com/scrap-yard/eagle-scout-letter/
troop366eagle
Yes, I did receive a letter from President Obama, among many previous presidents and other current staff. Curiously, I received Hillary Clinton's letter last, but there may be more coming. Obama did take a while, I received mine about 4 months afterward. kbandit
I went through one of our State Senators to get the Presidental letter. Took about 8 weeks. He is a scout friendley senator. Got his letter within a few days of email request. Just requested his office forward a request to the Presidential Office.
