Freeisp
Good evening all: I have been honored by our Troop leadership to take the reins of Scout Committee Chairman. This is an awsome honor and responsibility for myself. I have been involved with the Scouting program as ScoutMaster and have worked well with Scout Committees in the past. Is there anyone with experience with the Scout Committee Chairman position that could lead me to resources that will help me get the training and skills needed for this Office? Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated...
JudyT23
Congratulations... You can find most of the information you need on how a Troop Committee works in the Troop Committee Guidebook, available at you local Council Service Center..as for training, the Committee Challenge is a 3 hour training course designed for Committee members and is in a game format. also helpful is good people skills, the ability to delegate, and function as a team player. Good Luck!
eisely
The troop committee guidebook is a good place to start. You should also go to your district roundtables and go to scoutmaster fundamentals training if you have not already done so. Depending on how involved your sponsoring organization is, you will want to invite your chartered organization representative to your committee meetings. The committee chair has two principal jobs: rechartering and managaging the adults. Leave the boys to the scoutmaster. Delegate and know how to run a meeting.
