I'm in Section C-3A. Just completed my Ordeal. Konepaka Ketiwa Lodge.

Thanks for all of the "congrats" on the tap-out (tap-in?). I finished my Ordeal this past weekend. Now to encourage my Scouts who are Arrowmen to get back in the game. Dean

A long-awaited update. I was tapped-out! Ordeal is August 11 - 12.

We voted back in the day on Webelos patches. It's been a while... :-) Is the Cub Scout Insignia guide linked above old? It shows the options on the pocket. Not stirring the pot here, just observing.

There are three different ways to have the left pocket, according to the guide. We chose the Large Webelos badge for my boys. Looks better, at least to our den. The boys decided.

I have FaceBook friends who work at National. Being teased isn't nice. If there were exciting news, chances are we wouldn't hear about it from our council until Fall.

I read some brief FaceBook posts from the National Meeting that said "exciting news!" But that's all it said. Anyone have the inside scoop on what the news is?

Tico Perez would travel to Commissioner Colleges on weekends. I met him at the Daniel Beard College of Commissioner Science in Davenport, IA a few years ago. 2009?? Anyway, he listened to what we had to say and gave a speech during lunch. Seemed to be a down-to-earth guy.

Backpack to a remote site that isn't too far. Camp one night. Arrange for transportation out. It's not an out-and-return backpack trip, but it's a start.

A quick hernia check followed by an annual "digital exam" is what I get from my doctor. My son only gets the hernia check.

Thank you for the responses. I could swear that I found a Roundtable Guide recently with a monthly calendar that had themes for Cubs & Scouts. No problem though - I just gave the task of monthly themes to the PLC. Dean

I have been to hell and back trying to find the list of Boy Scout Monthly themes for May 2017 forward. Does anyone have a link? My Google searches are coming up empty. Thank You!!

Troop Web Host

I have left camp during the day. Sometimes because of an emergency at work (I'm a Sys Admin) and a couple times to take care of family business. We do make sure an adult is available all times. I visit the first year Scouts in the morning at their "Brownsea Island" adventure. Some afternoons I will put on my pack and hike the perimeter of the camp. When I retire in 18 months I'll just take naps at camp and eat ice cream.

So, I have entered the Merit Badges multiple times and they still don't appear on the advancement report. They are listed when you look at the Scouts account. Puzzling, but I'll leave it up to the National staff to figure out.

Any idea how long it takes for a completed Merit Badge to appear in a scout's record? I have a scout who has 10 days left before he's 18. I added his last 2 Merit Badges. They don't appear in his member summary. Thanks, Dean

@@qwazse I wasn't Scoutmaster last year. Our Asst. Scoutmaster/Advancement Chairman has been in ill health and passed away a couple days ago. I was left in lurch, but I'm learning a lot. This is the only Scout we had in this predicament. After reviewing the newer requirements, I determined that it would not take much effort to "do the right thing" and delay the BOR. The Scout in question was a tad disappointed, but it's not the end of the world. (As a side note I'm not convinced he is really "gung-ho" about Scouting...) I feel better about the whole thing now. The next task is to reconcile Troop Records (handwritten) to our Troop web site (on Troop Web Host) to Council and National. Wish me luck! Dean
