Thanks for proposing a solution. Has anyone tried this or a similar model? What if Cub Scouts was just a summer activity? Eight weeks, six adventures, two hikes, a week of camp, and you are done. What is to stop a committee from proposing this model of scouts for a unit?
I have not read a recharter agreement. Thus, I don't know what a unit promises to do. I do know, however, that aside from the recharter itself, some basic popcorn sales admin, and day camp, that my council and local district do nothing for the local cub scout units. My council and local district sat back and watched five units fold in my neighboring city during the last year. Certainly, a novel model of scouting is better than no scouting. And without healthy Packs, how does Scouts BSA expect to survive?
