Might be how it how it is on paper. We got back from Summer camp and the staff was still entering completions. We didn't know what our Scouts really completed till we were already home. And there were no MB counselors. Just staff teaching classes and no adults in sight. Blue cards? HA!! All we have is a PDF generated in Black Pug. There might be a way that MBs are to be completed and recorded, but its not being done correctly. And that is the fault of adults.

Spring 2023 in undisclosed large southern city. U.S. Scouting Service Project (USSSP) enSsoptdrotig9g60518h2lhgl031u407507m4muh3ccclthl5i322u9ihit · PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!! The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) WILL have its National Annual Meetings, or NAM, in the spring of 2023, face-to-face!! They are making arrangements in a large Southern city (no, not Nashville but much larger!) for May. So mark your calendars and wait for the *official word* to come from the BSA closer to the start of October (or just ask your Council's Scout Executive -- he or she got the word yesterday, I was told, but was asked to hold out announcing the actual dates and where until all of the prelim physical arrangements are completed!) It will be SO GREAT to "get the entire band back together again!" - and this means YOU!! The National Annual Meetings (there are more than one which occur during the week) are open to ANY registered volunteer or professional and feature meetings on best practices, training and coaching, program status, award presentations and ceremonies, and (my best part) informal interactions with other volunteers and professionals from around the nation (and world!) The presentations of the BSA's national volunteer service awards in several categories are a highlight as well as the annual business and program meetings.

I honestly don't care about their membership numbers report. The only reference to the Dec 31 extension has been in this thread and nothing from Council. I would like to know if its legitimate or not. The lack of communication at the Council level is frustrating. I am a CC for two Units and it would be nice to know what my real timeline is. -

So, may I assume there are no substantive changes other than a few difference in language in the Affiliation Agreement? No extension till Dec 31 as possibly mentioned earlier? -

I honestly don't know how to answer that question for a potential CO. I also don't really know how to answer a parent when they ask what does the $75 cover? -
Chapter 11 announced - Part 11 - Judge's Opinion

I wish that would be communicated officially. I had rather not find a new CO to then find it wasn't necessary. -

No interest is facilities use agreement? Our Methodist Church is all for letting us continue to use what we need and continue our relationship despite who the actual CO is. -

NCAP Standards Applied to ALL Council & District Events
5thGenTexan replied to SiouxRanger's topic in Issues & Politics
Our District events are usually ok regarding what the Units get to do during non-program time. All meals are cooked in camp and we are generally left alone. Council events I have zero interest in ever going again. -
Initially, I didnt consider it a fundraising effort. I just didnt want my name attached to the answers I was going to submit. Not a headache I need.

New 2022 National Survey. Where on this chart does National get their act together and tell us "who" we are rechartering under? -
Seems our adults are bound and determined to go to Camp A next summer in spite of the costs. I really try my best to adhere to "Thrifty", but not everyone sees it that way.
-
Personally. I didn't buy my half gallon of chocolate milk this week because I am trying to cut costs. I didn't get the haircut I needed last week because I am trying to cut costs. And I don't drink overpriced fru fru coffee. So no, I do not have the $5 a month to support a website for something outside my household. The Troop is just a year old and we have ZERO dollars to do anything. The equipment we have is parent provided or stuff we had donated.
-
Where I am going with this is... If we can, and I believe we can, put together enough adults who are MBC to have MB opportunities for the week. What stops us from find a new pretty place in the United States to travel to. Find a group camp site. Cook our own meals. Plan our own activities. Use our own stuff. I was not impressed with the summer camp we went to and I dont think our Boy Troop was over impressed with the camp they went to. Why spend big bucks if we can do better on our own?
-
Is there any reason why Scout Summer Camp has to be at a BSA Camp with a program? Seems like everyone heads to a $300 - $400 a week camp and I am not sure why. Convenience?
-
We have a public FB page. And I don't have $5 a month to setup a webpage unfortunately.

I HAVE to find a way to recruit. Our GT has 11 girls at the moment, and I can't rely on Cub crossovers. I posted a flyer in the middle school newsletter as well as on FB, but that doesnt seem to really reap any results.

This is girls being allowed to join Cub Scouts all over again. They announce something is going to happen with apparently no clue on how it will be implemented. Leave it up to the Unit volunteers to figure it out all the while they are blowing smoke and telling us how great things are. -

I spoke to the DE the other day regarding our uhhh "options". Told me it would be cleared by Monday. He went on to tell me we would be council owned. Of course, I suggested we would not be and already in talks with another organization to be our CO. He told me "good look with that, we will see how long that lasts" -
Our trailer, we got second had (at least) earlier this year. Lights were acting goofy and I traced that problem and fixed it. Also repacked the bearings before we left. I did take enough tools to redo a bearing if we needed to and work on the lights in the field. Wasn't much in terms of tools. After we pulled the old leaf spring off and got to looking at it, it was obvious it had failed before we even got it and that break had rusted over. Our trip just finished breaking it all the way. I am not sure how we would have gotten it off if another adult didn't have a set of sockets and wrenches in his truck. I need to hit up Harbor Freight and at least get us enough stuff to hopefully be able to get down the road next time something happens. After years of family trips across the country with travel trailers, I know stuff happens it the worst places.

I maintain a FB page for our Girl Troop. I post pictures and a description AFTER our events and share to the local community FB pages as well as the District and Council FB pages. I usually make a post on major holidays. Just this week I posted the new recruiting flyer I made up.
