The Scouymaster will not lead??? From what I understand the troop is "boy run"??? Aftewr that statment, How well developed is the boy leaders???? Can the Green Bar or Leadership Corp run the troop??? If not it may be time that Scout goes through leadership trainning?? Have the Learship Corp sit down at a PLC and have an aldult explain them what is ment by boy run and tell then what there duties are. -
Bob White I have brought up the requirements that can be signed onthe weekend campouts. I have also brought up the OA camping requirements and the Camping MB. They act that do not care about camping.
-
The troop I am involved in only goes to summer camp. I have in the past year tried to get them to go camping more(4 to 6 weeks) but the boy run troop does not what to go camping. Then at a Committie Meeting last month the CC with the backing of the SM and SA said that the troop was not a Camping Troop. I asked them how the scouts are going to meet the requirements to advance. They said at summer camp
-
old grey eagle I can not till you what type of troop they are. When I as asked to join the troop was about to fold. There was two other individuals th(aldults) that joined at the same time. We deleivered the program to the youth. That included camping trips, scouting programs and summer camp. The troop grew from 10 scouts to 35. Over the years the troop changed. Earlier this year, at a committie meeting with several scoutmasters, I asked them if thye scouts where interested in camping, hiking or in any other outdoor activity. At this point nothibng is working. At the last committie meeting the comment that the troop is not a camping troop was made. Yes, I can live with this statement and way of thinking. I just move on.
-
The only camping the troop does is summer camp. BT

The troop that I ama member of is not a camping troop. This is from the Committie Chair and the Scoutmaster.

How many leaders know about the camping requirement for the OA??? Yes I know I am preaching to the chorus. The answer is 15 days/nights. The real question is does your troop provide enough nights a year or a year and 1/2 so the scouts meet the requirements?? If not why??? Yes, I know that the troop is boy run but do the boys care?/
-
OA, a numbers game?? I hope note. But they do need people in the lodge.
-
some thing from your state's past(Illinois) or the nation past. Make it simple so the cubs scouts can relate to.
-
The leader of the troop that left the scout sould be spoken to. What is more inportant wet gear the scout.

I am going to open the can of worms. I can from a troop that this would not happen. Everyone had a ride to the event and home from the event, no questions asked. If this Scout had a ride to the event what happen to his ride home. FRom what I am reading into this event the leaders kid did not go to the event in question. If the leaders son was in the car then there was three in the car. If there was a problem getting the scout home then there was a problem for everyone in the troop to go home. I do not call this leader dumb. He had to do what he had to do. The other leaders left him alone to deal with the problem. The other leaders must also take the YP program with him.
-
Did not have a ride home???? He was in foster care?? Where where the adults giving foster care?? Are you not telling us something??
-
This is going to open a can worms, but my title was taken from another thread. The Boy Scouts are trying to teach family values and other material to today's youth. Is National getting in the way by making un friendly dissutions?? At the local level does the parents or other adults understand that there is a "national"? Do they understand what we are trying to teach?
-
It may be time to retire this thread and call it something else. But I am going to put my one cent in. Most parents who have children in cub scouts and boy scouts do not know about the anti gay and relgion stance that national has. They are only intersted in the program that is in the pack or troop. What happened in philly never made it any of the local papers.

This does not sound like "charm" school. It sounds like some kind of basic traind for DE. BT
