No. Class B has preapproved BSA artwork they will use for those design elements. They may ask you about other design elements if you own the copyright.

I agree with being around to assist, but it also depends on how much he knows of the troop, it's operations and processes too. He may not know these and laying those out for him would be helpful. When is PLC? When are menus usually done? How is good paid for? When are OA and troop elections? Does the troop require NYLT for SPL? Which adults are fully trained? How many RSOs do we have? These are all things that are important to troop operations which an incoming SM must know. Anything he does t like he can sit down with the PLC and discuss. Any ideas I had as ASM I'm going to take this opportunity to get forward. I'm a firm believer that troops need fresh blood at the SM level just like at the youth level. I think it's great @@Sentinel947 is trying to be proactive.

Girl Scouts react to Boy Scouts considering girls
Col. Flagg replied to RememberSchiff's topic in Issues & Politics
Since 2000 we've lost 3% of our membership each year. After the policy change in 2013 it increased to 7%...more than doubled our losses. The change was designed to stop our losses. -

Pretty sure my math is good enough that a 3% annual decline of 2.3m members is slower than a 7% annual decline of 2.3m members. -

I stand corrected. We can't imply anything from their posts...but we can infer it. I'm Texan, my English ain't so great...but my BBQ is. -
They will use the BSA approved artwork for the logos and trademarked stuff. Most anything else that would be Scoutike gets approved.
-
Nope. Troop and Crew doing Alaska high adventure...and going for longer and less per person and a over crowded jamboree.

No one who defends "Boy Scouts for boys" needs to imply anything from the posts of those who wish to erase the boy from Boy Scouting. We can imply it from your posts. You can't be a little bit pregnant. It's either Boy Scouts or coed Scouting. -
Again...when was the last time BSA went on a massive data collection effort and didn't act on something? They never went this deep of religious issues; only on the gay issue...and they went opposite of the majority. If you believe nothing has happened yet, there's a bridge near your I'd like you to buy off me. They have this all planned out. And by that I mean making things coed. I by no means think they have anything well planned. But the powers at BSA have made up their mind already.

Best to ask the rangers what they know works. They have the field stories about canister x getting flattened while canister y was okay. They are small. You'll either need to resupply or repackage all your food. The weight of the good canisters is heavier than I like. I try to go ultra light so any single thing other than my tent heavier than 2.3lbs stays home.

Yeah "acclimatize" must be fun. Can't just sit at camp. Although last year my guys just wanted to "chill at base camp". Kids are so busy these days the last thing they need sometimes is more stimulation. Never underestimate the desire to relax. If they're planning the trip this will naturally happen. If they want more adventure they'll plan it.

When was the last BSA went to these lengths to appear to be gathering information and not act on it? Since 2013 I cannot recall a single issue they've left on the table.
-
Not sure this is true about "any" change losing you memebership. They could have kept the status quo and incurred fewer losses or even stabilized rather than DOUBLING their losses since 2013. BSA could openly solicit their membership and listen to how those of us on the ground are INCREASING our membership. They could look at niche strategies to help in formerly strong markets to see what strategies might work there. No, instead we get change after I'll-thought out change which increases our decline and alienates their base rank and file. Brilliant move on BSA's part.

Yup with the BSA 10 hour a day drive limit you can't get far. Some think it's ten hours per driver. Nope, ten hours per vehicle.
-
Good luck getting 5 days food into those canisters. Depending on Crew size you'll need several. You'll also need to account for the added weight. The good ones are not light.

@@MattR I've see Scouters with 40 years of service walk over the membership policy change. These were guys who put in 20 hours every week for 40 years in to the program. They now fish and hunt with other buddies who did the same. I've seen families that give 10k to FOS simply close their check book or give to their church instead. Same reason. I wouldn't poke that bear. You'd be surprised what people of principle can do when they've seen that last straw fall.

Tom Brokaw: Friends Across Barbed Wire and Politics

I'll let @@Stosh argue his point. A Japanese American in March 1942 had no idea of his fate in a detention camp than a Jew or Gypsy or Catholic or dissident had in Dachau in 1934. Only the outcome was different. What put them in those camps was fear and hatred. As Americans we focus on the outcome because we don't like to think about the reason why we put them there in the first place. I won't even bring up the Indians. We outright slaughtered them. -
Two vans at unlimited miles for 12 days was $1200. Brand new vans too. Dallas to Cimarron via many fun stops.
-
Wow. Speechless at some Leaders' behavior. I've got 75 Scouts: - Call: Leave a detailed message with call back. I'll call, email or text you back within 48 hours. - Text: Same as above but I copy mom or dad on my reply. - Email: Same as above. I don't do Snapchat. I don't consider Twitter, Instagram or Facebook ways of contacting me for troop or crew business.
-
Two crews. Two 15 passenger vans. Bring 12 two man tents. Eat at local restaurants or bring MREs. More than enough room for that gear and then some. Took two days to get there and two days back. One armory, two camp grounds, one night wary and Philmont. Easy Peary.
-
Not if you do your home work. Great camping near Angel Fire.
-
Nope. Nope. Nope. Issues and politics belong with mom and dad. Not going. To even open that box. We can discuss the Oath and Law and other Scouting issues. They can take those and apply them where they like.
-
Exactly what DOES in mean then? As far as I know all BSA programs are accessible to families in that they accept all boys of the right age. So please explain EXACTLY in plain English what "accessible to families" means. Mike sure didn't.

Really? Do you think those held in the camps in the US weren't concerned about Uncle Sam doing the same to them as the Germans did? Because that's been widely noted in interviews with former Japanese Americans. -

I believe @@Stosh is referring to the xenophobia which created the MIND SET that leads populations to single out a certain race, NOT the outcome. Clearly @@Stosh knows the difference between extermination and incarceration.
