Best volunteer EVER! I would have cried if I couldn't have found a solution!

Thank you so much for your responses!!!!! Yes, she can wear the shirt is very excited. She's an absolute delight. A few of the boys have asked her and she just smiles and says "Because a Scout has a duty to follow God in the way he or she is called and this is how God is calling me." I just found the PERFECT skirt for her to wear with her uniform online - it even matches the color of the switchbacks. I also took the liberty of calling our District Executive to verify that this was okay and he told me it was definitely fine for anything under his leadership and if anyone questions it to tell them he approved it.

On the GSUSA side over half of our troop never "aged out" we just kept right on going. Many of us went into training and/or being leadership for other groups of girls who didn't have leadership available to them. I foresee the same for my boys. I pray that when they reach 18 they have an idea of how they want to begin working on their future in Scouting. Some of my happiest memories were continuing to work with Scouting in the years between "aging out" and finally having a child old enough to join Cub Scouts. We used to joke that Scouting was like "Hotel California". "You can check out any time you like...but you can never leave."

We rank advance at B&G when possible as well until Webelos. The ones that just joined the Pack (Dec-Jan) advance from Bobcat to their current rank they will be working on. The Webelos move into that section at their B&G 4th Grade year (or 9 years old as we have homeschooled Scouts). Once they are there we hold a court of honor for them when they achieve Webelos and they each get their own Arrow of Light ceremony to move up to "big Boy Scouts" or one ceremony available a month if there are multiple that have finished AoL. They really enjoy having their AoL honored separate from the B&G and we invite the Troop to come as well and "receive" them as they move up whereas they don't usually attend the B&G. It works very well for us.

I have a VERY active mother in our unit who would love to step up and become a den leader but we have ONE problem: for religious reasons she only wears skirts. I would LOVE to have her be more active with the unit but she is not comfortable wearing the pants and we cannot find a vintage skirt in her size (plus size lady). I can sew her a skirt of a fabric similar to the uniform (or the same if I can find it!) and am more than willing to accommodate her. She already participates in all of our activities but just doesn't wear a uniform but rather a long, full skirt with leggings underneath.
