  1. I have posted here several times in the past. I was activated for duty in July to Operation Iraqi Freedom. The support that we have been recieving from scout troops and cub packs makes me so proud. Every time i see someone recieve a care package from scouts it makes thier day. For some that is the only mail they recieve. Thanks for all of your support. We cant do this job without our support from home. BSA is the greatest organization ever. So everyone involved everywhere thanks.
  2. Without trying to look at the biblical perspective the term "homosexual" describes an act that one participates in sexually. Without ever participating in such an act , how can a person ever honestly ever declare him/herself to be "homosexual". The participation in such an act is a choice that one makes on thier own. Why all of a sudden does there have to be scientific evidence to prove otherwise? There are several scientific studies out there that tried to prove this theory that you can be born a homosexual. It was only ever stated that it could be possible that one could be born with homosexuality. This has never been actually proven, but it was immediatly adopted by the gay community as factual. Just another excuse to justify this lifestyle and advance the gay agenda.
  3. People are not born with a sexual preferance. The act of homosexuality is not morally straight ( ever notice the word straight is used to define someone who is not gay?). The debate of this topic is a waste of BSA resources and taxpayers money in the court system. BSA is a PRIVATE org. and if you do not agree with its policy on gays because that is your lifestyle choice you are free to start your own organization . The more the gay community tries to cram its agenda down our throats , the more people will take a stand against it. I'm proud to be an ohioan and proud of our stand on this issue here.
  4. i wasn't aware that the image of BSA had changed with the ruling. the image of BSA was upheld in my book.
  5. i would just like to openly say thank you to The American Legion for stepping up funding for BSA. i have just as other members of The American Legion have been pressing this for quite some time. i am proud to be a member of both organizations.
  6. maybee we should quit "meddling" like giving our money to them.
  7. GPS units are nice and wok good but, the same thing applies here you get what you pay for. i do recomend that one is bruoght along but not used to avoid scout orienteering skills which are still important. i'm a real big fan of gortex for your high adventure needs and will not go without them now that i have used them. alice type gear still works great but do not over do it someone might think you're an army. try to use black or o.d. colors my favorite tool is a leatherman. stay away from lodge brand cast iron i've heard alot about these exploding/cracking
  8. i was a life scout when i graduated high school at age 17. i quit my troop to persue a military career. after gulf war one and somalia i decided to get out. now i have returned to both as a ASM and a reservist my life seems to have gotten something back. i totally regret not trying to earn eagle. but, maybee i can help someone else. i always ask people why they quit. the most popular replys i get are "my scoutmaster thought he was a marine drill instructor" or "there was a bully" or "didnt fit in too the clic" . i do know this for sure : scouting requires you to be dedicated at all levels
  9. the most important thing these "extra" adults could do would be recruiting at local cub packs. it doesnt seem like this gets done enough.
  10. The best way to go on a trip like this is use as much dry food as possible. From my experiance the sunscreen is most important to not forget.Bugspray and toilet paper are a close second. For a two day trip it might be better to let each scout bring and cook his own food.On a longer trip troop gear can be rotated between canoes daily{because it adds alot of weight}.Trash bags are good but dont last long there are good ruberized bags available that are reusable.A good investment for the active canoe scout. If you are planning on going to a high adventure canoe base you might want to portage the canoes once or twice. When i went to Tinnerman Canoe Base we had to portage for ten miles,And we were totally unprepared for what was involved. -britag
  11. Any one who is an Eagle Scout will recieve accellerated advancement upon graduation of basic training in any armed forces branch. -britag -this must be documented by your recruiter prior to enlistment.
  12. I think the rifles are proper symbology of a "Color Guard" without them it is a "Color Detail". It has been awhile and im not positive . -britag
  13. Bob, I probably exagerated by saying "half" but i do know a few.Sorry left my caps on after login.
  14. WHY DOES NATIONAL HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT DRIVING SUSPENSIONS ON ADULT APPLICATION. ARE YOU NOT ALLOWED TO BECOME A LEADER WITH A PRIOR SUSPENSION? IF SO HALF OF MY COUNCIL LEADERSHIP WOULD HAVE TO GO. BUT THEN I HEARD THEY JUST ARENT ALLOWED TO DRIVE WITH SCOUTS IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE THEY ARE OPERATING.
  15. When i was crossing over to boy scouts our towns troop wasn't as active as i desired .Me and my brother joined another troop from a town next to ours. It ended up being the best choice i ever made. When searching for a troop its all about the individual scout,Once your there its all about the troop.
