He had cut a hole in an American Flag and was wearing it as a poncho/top. I thought he would catch heck for sure, then the second act came on, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake and the infamous Wardrobe malfunction. Come Monday morning Kid Rock's esoteric fashion sense was way down the list of things to talk about. Loved Whitney Houstons Anthem just in the SUperbowl just before Dessert Storm

Its been awhile since I talked about my son's medical condition but here goes Well, first you have to know a little background. Due to a birth defect my son has to cathetrize a stoma every 3-4 hours to drain urine from a surgically constructed bladder and has to sleep with a urinary drainage bag. The medical term is epispadias, its a form of extrophy We were on a cabin campout a few years back. The boys were in the two upstairs rooms, the older boys in one (where my son was) and the younger in another. The adults were all downstairs. Well, as it often happens the younger boys were being very rambunctious and noisy and wouldnt settle down. The older boys kept telling the younger ones to be quiet. Well, eventually my son has had enought, he walks over the youner boy side, and flips on the light. There he is, with his catheter bag 1/3 filled raised to eye level and he says "Hey, you guys be quiet, this thing is loaded and I am not afraid to use it. The place went totally silent and stayed that way till morning, then he told me what happened and I laughed for 10 minutes. I was always worried how he would react to wearing the bag, he turned it to his advantage I was/am so proud

that the charger is not part of the uniform? and you guys hike in full field uniform? didnt say the charger was required, not sure how you got required out of what I posted, just the reasoning for not allowing them on a campout? DO you not allow them to have facebook accounts either?

So, when the scout sees the kinetic powered battery charger in Scouting magazine and asks why the troop bans electronics if the BSA advertises technology to charge batteries What is the response? Because I said so? Because the adults say so? Seems like a lot of people see zealous cub scout parents who come in and don't know the boy scout program as the most troublesome. Just a thought How are these people, the zealous cub scout parents, taught the boy scout program? Yes, they may be ignorant of the way of boy Scouts, but ignorant just means never been told. Who is supposed to impart the required knowledge?

Every couple years or so the troop "reorganizes" we have new patrol night. There are 4 to 6 places depending on troop size marked in the room and after opening the SPL tells the scouts that they can go to any of the designated places in the room to become a new patrol. Then the kids scatter, elect a Patrol Leader,select a name and yell. We used to try to limit the size but that just didnt work, the kids are pretty good at knowing who they will mesh with and the less spirited scouts know to stay away from the ones who take scouts seriously, works for us Your Mileage may oscillate

the First Year Program where the Troop I serve frequents teaches the skills and tells the youth to go back to the Troop and demonstrate what they have been taught to get signed off. We typically lag one day behind the program. If they teach knots on Monday, we "test/pass knots" on Wednesday, The staff makes it clear its up to the Troops to sign the requirments accroding to their own troop tradition. It works in the form of feedback as we also see how good the instruction is when testing

Tuoc, you have a history of not being truthful so if I ask you to repeat answers to questions, that's the price you pay for being a prevaricator. A long long long time ago we had a frequent postor who was sympathetic to the plight of gay scouts. He told us about one scout he knew who was torn up because he was gay and Eagle. Attempted suicide once and contemplated it often. Time goes on and then the poster admits he is the scout. I was flat out disgusted, not that he was gay but because in the cover of anonymity of the forum, he still couldnt say he was gay and an Eagle and I dismissed anything he said after that as untrustworthy. You on the other hand told us up front and wanted to know our opinions, and you are getting them. I some regard that is being more honest than the other guy yet you lie every time you say the oath and law and recharter so you can see where the issue is. I could say I wish you didnt have to lie, but that does not excuse the fact you are not being truthful. You can say that's not what you asked, but this is the internet and much like Forrest Gump's feather things go where they go and you either buy in or not Heck, I challenged the group to let this thread die by not responding and you see how effective that was

As a Troll, Tuoc is not very good. Of the 69 poss in this thread he owns 7, and none since Friday the 28th. If he were to be a Troll, he should be on every couple hours or so exhorting us to explain ourselves and as far as we know he has moved on or is thinking about what he has read. How about we don't post anything in this thread until he adds another post, do you have that self control? Just a suggestion (I can dream can't I?)

Oh, and as an aside, hard as it is for me to remember at times, I am not the only moderator on this forum. Modertors can be spotted by the * after "senior forum member". There are times when I act like I am the only moderator and I do get email about that. For this one, my first instinct was to close it, instead I moved it from the Program Section to Politics and Issues. Packsaddle (not his real name) and I have discussed this thread, Pack is taking control of it, I will not close this thread PS Old Grey Eagle is not my real name either(This message has been edited by OldGreyEagle)
