  1. I know its simplistic, but if Saddam didnt have WMD, why the shell game with the UN weapons inspectors?
  2. jkhny, I am not getting through to you. Again on your last post you use a proper name of a scout professional whom you accuse of ill deeds. Now, if you peruse the forum you will find many proper names, such as Bush, Clinton, etc. They are public figures. Then there are people like that guy named Smith (the kid porno guy) and the SE from Atlanta who resigned, they have become public figures by virture of their relative news story. But when someone is mentioned, I have no idea if the charges you make are real or not. If you want to use names 99.99% of us have no idea who they are, provide a link to a story about them, otherwise I will be deleting the names as I see them.(This message has been edited by OldGreyEagle)
  3. In the Council I serve, an Eagle candidate without a church may use his parents as the reference he does his duty to God
  4. I am not sure if indeed Christians feel the need to be persecuted as much as they are, bold statement but I would like to know why: Madonna becomes entrenched in Kabbalah, says she feels so spiritual and at peace and people fawm over her as if she won the Nobel Peace prize Tom Cruise throws Psychology under the bus on TV because he has studied Scientology and people stand back and admire his passion for his beliefs. Mel Gibson makes the Pasion of the Christ and is seen as a right wing religious nut making a film for a sliver audience and HOllywood is amazed it makes big bucks. The prophet Mohammaed is cartoonized in European newspapers and American newspapers say they wont reprint them in the US due to issues over religious sensitivity, Althouh they had no problem showing pictures of a crucifix in a jar of urine. Yes, I think Christians are persecuted
  5. Well then ok, back to the topic at hand... BSA, as I understand it, requires a belief in a power higher than yourself. Thats it, it sounds like you do, so I dont see an issue.
  6. I have to get back to why the events are scheduled, becaise the boys want them or the adults, boy scouts is for the boys, cant be the adults or dislikes, its what the boys want to do (within the guidelines, no sod surfing)
  7. Just how do the Democrats stand for truth justice and the American way? Have they shown themselves to be beacons of virture in the last how many ever years? We have tape of CLinton, Kerry, the other CLinton and many other democrats saying WMD were in Iraq and Pres Clinto n calling for regime change. I think we went into Iraq for good reason, I dont think the post war strategy was as well planned as the war itself. What have the democrats demonstrated besides outraged fingerpointing? Any plans? ANy programs? What are they? How do they work? BTW just as disgusted with the republicans, people decry the lack of electorate voting, periods like this explain why,
  8. NO! Its not a 4 hour course, follwo the schedule in the syllabus, dont cut corners, PLEASE!
  9. Whats for breakfast? Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam;
  10. Amd the fact we can all express our views of each other and our goverment is what makes America great.
  11. One of the traits that I most love above about B-P was his desire to bring an end to war. He saw the Boy Scout movement as part of this dream. In a world where all the men were brother scouts, there could be no war. As a soldier he knew the horrors and insanity of war and spent a lifetime trying to establish a world without a posibility of war. I have heard it mentioned that he retired to Africa when he realized WWII was inevitable and could not stand to see or hear about it. The legacy of B-P goes on. It is truly amazing what one dedicated driven passionate man can accomplish
  12. TrainingScouts You could always ask the rhetorical question, How can you deliver the promise, when you dont know what it is?
  13. purcelce Without acrimony, I vehemently disagree, I don't see how you can present a VLSC course in 4 hours. Limiting the reflection time makes it a lecture environment, with speakers talking, participant listiening and little to no interaction. in other words, boring. I guess I should ask, how was it done in 4 hours before I run off any more
  14. Starting a fire without matches? ...It's so easy, a Caveman could do it....
  15. seabear, I am sure it as a typo, and I am certainly no stranger to them myeslf, but in Venturing its the kodiak (as in bear) not kodak. I only point that out as Ventuting has enough confusion and dont wish that any more be added.
  16. "To do so, all we have to do is eliminate some parts, like reflection time, activities, Video scenes of Vision and Leadership..." Sorta like cramming Wood Badge into a single weekend, at some point you have to say why bother? Why cut corners and make the kids think they had the full experience
  17. Gays in Boy Scouts? ... The answer is always NO! BSA and Adventure... We are Professional Grade(This message has been edited by OldGreyEagle)
  18. "...Costly thy habitas thy purse can buy, But not expressed in fancy; rich, not gaudy, For the apparel oft proclaims the man..." Wear Spoof patches if you wish, but don't be surprised if you are regarded as a spoof scouter as well
  19. SO the CEO of this Fortune 100 Company needed a new CFO, He was down to the last two candidates. At the final interview the first was an Eagle scout recently graduated from Business School. The CEO asked him what is 2 plus 2, The applicant blinked once and said 4. At this the CEO excused the applicant The next (and last) candidate walks in the room, the CEO asks this candidate what 2 plus 2 was, the candidate softly whipsers, "WHat do you need it to be?"
  20. A Board of Review can elect not to advance a scout. If such an incident is discovered, the Board informs the scout of such, then tells him what needs to be done to remedy the situation, sends a letter to the scout outlining what must be done and supports the scout in getting the item accomplished and then they do another BOR.
  21. Ok, so on the scale of things, is this "equal to" or "less" or "more" than when Jimmy Carter turned over the Panama Canal to Panama?
  22. Semper, I am sure you are proud, but I am also sure not in a secular hedonistic way PS: I always wondered what happened to Kimmie, after she left Full House, nice to see her land on her feet, which helps in figure skating
  23. Why not? The Troop always has the summer camp unit picture up in the Church, why not have a professional photographer do the troop and individual shots, I know my son has plenty of pictures taken when he wa in soccer and little league. Why not have a trading card of your boy in uniform, a button of your tyke with an OA sash on, sounds like a neat deal
  24. How appropriate, we have a Venturing Leadership Skills Course this week-end and it will run from 7pm on Friday until 3:30 on Saturday. If you have read the syllabus, you see that there are of hands on activities and initiatives (human knot untangling amoung others) all require a presntation module, activity and reflection. if you rush through it, I guess you could do it in 4 hours, but in the ones I have helped present, the reflection, when the participants get to talk and add their thoughts is the best part and to cut it short due to a schedule short circuits the whole deal.
  25. What really gets me, and I havent heard it yet here or anywhere, how did we get to the point that a US company cant do this? Is operating a seaport such a complex operation that no US company can handle the logistics? I dont mean a US company should get the contract because they are American, but because they are the best at it. There are so many things we lead the world in, how did seaport operation fall to the wayside? Who was it who said the business of America is business?
