Anyone have any thoughts on a troop project for the 21st century course? Looking for ideas for the staff project.

Wood Badge is the highest level of training in Scouting. There is a new course now, called Wood Badge for the 21st Century, that replaces the old syllabus. Cost in our council is $195. They no longer require the "stripped down" uniform (during my course, we could only have the flag, world crest, council strip, and troop 1 on the uniform shirt). That required purchasing a new uniform. The new program is for all scouters, and you wear your regular uniform. The new course is either 6 consecutive days or 2 three-day weekends. The old course was 3 two-day (long days) weekends. In our troop, we feel that if a leader needs or wants any training, the troop will pay for it. That leader is usually spending lots of his/her time (at least an hour a week!), and this is a way the troop can help the leader. Go to www.woodbadge.org for more information. It's a great site that has a FAQ link, history, patrol names, and a section on the new course. I HIGHLY recommend it for any leader. Always keep in mind that all we do in Scouting is for the boys. We are taking this advanced training so we can be better leaders for the Scouts. It's all about them!
