If they ban homemade stoves, it will be great disservice to those troops that want to backpack in a lightweight style. Sure, you can buy a commercial version, but then you have the expense without the satisfaction of making your own gear. Personally, I think cat food can stoves (http://jwbasecamp.com/Articles/SuperCat/index.html) are better suited (lower for better stability, no need for pot support and can be "turned off" with a snuffer cup) for Scouts though.

I understand that spammers frequent every forum. I suppose I should have included more info and that it was co sponsored by a council. I reposted with more info and without a direct link so people could google if they're interested. Hopefully, that's ok with the powers that be. I actually cannot attend the class. I am just trying to get the word out because it should be a great one for those interested. I'll also agree it's on the steep side, but I'm spending $150 for a local WFA course. I suppose you could say the value is subjective and in the eye of the beholder.

MONTANA COUNCIL B.S.A., in partnership with Backpacking Light and the Boone and Crockett Club are offering a new course that provides an introduction to the latest advances in lightweight backpacking gear and techniques, including packing systems, sleep systems, cooking systems, clothing systems, shelter systems, and more, and is tailored to the dynamics of Boy Scout High Adventure Crews and Scout Troops. Eligibility: This course is for registered leaders of the Boy Scouts of America. The minimum age is 18. Proof of BSA registration and a Class III/ABC physical are required. Well, it's not my class and I signed up 12/31 though due to whatever issues they've been having here was not able to post until early Feb. I also live in Indiana, not Montana. The reason I signed up was to learn more about higher adventure activities for my Wood Badge ticket.

Where is the terms of service located? A few hours ago I posted a link to a new training course for adult leaders offered by MONTANA COUNCIL, B.S.A., in partnership with Backpacking Light and the Boone and Crockett Club. It has since been deleted so I'd like to know how to make it "kosher". Thank you!

It's working now. I was able to register today. Edit: I notice it actually has the date I first attempted though. I never received an email until I tried again today.(This message has been edited by topshot)

FWIW, it has now started working again. I was finally able to join after a month of failed attempts.

Below is a map of locations with roughly 8 hours or 500 miles of Terre Haute, IN. Are there any you know of that I am missing? If you feel any on the below map aren't appropriate for Scouts let me know why. The one yellow is a Catholic camp recommended to me. I did this for a Wood Badge goal.
