Point well taken...however, it was quite interesting to see an old man practically jumping for joy over a flub-up in amegonit's flap size.

I met an old patch collector at Fall Fellowship this year who was practically jumping for joy when he saw that the new lodge patch was 1/2 in. long and that they were going to make a correction...it's amazing how some people obsess over patches.

As you all know, the OA is the nation HCS (Honor Camper Society), but there are many local HCS's as well... My troop (260) does both the Order of the Arrow, as well as the local Tribe of Mic-O-Say...they get along well with each other, and we have active members in both... They supplement each other, and our troop is beginning to find ways to fuse them into each other for troop usage...in our case, it works quite well, as we have new OA members and new MOS members every year. Are there any local HCS's your troop is involed in, or do you do OA specifically? Tamegonit Arrowman P. S. There is a leader in our troop who was a member of the now-defuct Tribe of the Black Arrow in New Jersey. Does anyone else know about other local HCS's besides MOS?

Food, Menu, and recipes
Tamegonit Arrowman replied to Fuzzy Bear's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Breakfast Burritos are a morning favorite of our troop...it contins within all of the basic food groups, and can be very filling and energizing... As for other meals, it depends on what you want...for something light just to tide you over if you're going to be hiking, etc. then I would recommend soup... Stew or anything involving pasta is good for a large, filling meal, usually good for supper...my home patrol, the Rams, twice attempted Dutch Oven Pizza...it turned out pretty good. Experiment is all I can say...the possiblities are endless when it comes to camp food. Tamegonit Arrowman -
Greetings, everyone...

I know, I have the SPL Handbook, as well as the PL Handbook. Our troop has a pretty good library, and can provide merit badge books and handbooks for positions if people need them. -
Do you know if.....

Some Scouts (including myself) simply don't care..we're in Scouting for the program, not to worry about politics, or this or that...as long as we have a program, we're happy with it (or SHOULD be anyways...). Tamegonit Arrowman -
Hello again Scouter people...I haven't posted in awhile, and I'l just starting to post again...my dad's trying to register as well, but hasn't gotten his registration email yet. I've been elected Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 260 from Kansas City since I last spoke with ya'll. I was wondering if anyone might have some helpful hints to help me be a better SPL? Any help would be appreciated...anyways...yeah...hey everyone, nice to be back. Tamegonit Arrowman

Interesting indeed...at Tamegonit Lodge's Fall Fellowship they just released a new flap (which I have bought but haven't sewn on yet). It'll probably be the last edition of the flap that has a number on it...they're going to (if they haven't already) begin making new flaps, because the ones out now are slighty too wide...the new flaps will most likely not have the lodge number on it...*sigh* I'LL always remember Tamegonit as being lodge number 147, though.

This may not work for everyone, but a 19-year-old leader in our troop has a 12 year old brother scout. The 19 year old leader tells his brother. "Remember, when I'm giving announcements or instructions, or trying to head something up, I'm not your big brother, I'm a leader, and I want you to treat me like any other leader". It seems to work, as the little brother has admiration for the older. He was just needing a little 1-on-1 with his bro. Maybe that's something you could try...? TA

Normally, in a situation such as this, I would recommend simply letting things take their course. Either the troubled individual will fit in, or the troop will fit in with him. However, this sounds like a rather extreme case, even compared to our troop (which has it's own share of troubled kids, let me tell you, some no worse than what you described!). I'm going to have to agree with the above poster on this one. TA

I think my dad already has that in favorites, but thanks!

Greetings...I have a question...
Tamegonit Arrowman replied to Tamegonit Arrowman's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. And dsteele, are you going to Fall Fellowship? If you are, I might see you there. I'm going with a leader and another Scout from my troop. Alas, there's not enough people in my troop who make OA their life quite like I do. Maybe that's a good thing. WWW -

Wow, thank people. My dad's in MOS (at Bartle), but alas, I am but a lowly Foxman. I hope to get my Brave next year at camp. Thanks for the web link, Voyageur. -
When next our troop goes to Tamegonit Lodge, it will be for Spring Induction. Since I received my Ordeal during the Fall Induction, I won't be able to go for Brotherhood quite yet. However, I am attempting to find a different way to get involved, and your input would be greatly appreciated. So, here's the question: WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I RETURN TO TAMEGONIT LODGE FOR THE SPRING INDUCTION WEEKEND?

should I be SPL again?
Tamegonit Arrowman replied to Ryon_Nayr@email.com's topic in The Patrol Method
Thank you for the compliment, NJ. Although it's not that hard to see when you're me and have been led by a patrol leader who refers to himself as "Der Feurer". @_@ -
Our troop's policy is one tent for every two boys.

Mine is easy. I'm an Arrowman, and a member of Tamegonit Lodge #147.

Order of the Arrow...
Tamegonit Arrowman replied to Tamegonit Arrowman's topic in Order of the Arrow
Funny..at Tamegonit they still do the three slaps to the shoulder as a part of the ceremony...and frankly, I hope they never take it out. Tapping with a feather doesn't really work for me-e-aaa-CHOO! See what I mean? *wipes his nose* WWW, Tamegonit Arrowman -

Of course, the national council would like to have you think that the ONLY gear to get is BSA mucho-expensive official gear. -

Thanks everyone, and WWW to my brothers in the Order. Tamegonit Lodge has many different events, coming up soon is their "Fall Fellowship", on September 23rd. I'm trying to find someone on these forums who is also a member of Tamegonit, but haven't had much success yet -

Andrewcanoe: At Tamegonit Lodge, we still do the "tap-out" as you described it.
