Pad under sleeping bag?
Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15 replied to Hunt's topic in Equipment Reviews & Discussions
One of our rules to have double under you as you do above you, and as Bob White said, change your cloths completely. Another tip: U might think im stupid but it does work, in winter, strip out of all of your cloths, and put on a fresh pair of boxers, and get in your sleeping bag. If you wear more while you sleep, you will wake up shivering from being wet of sweat. -
I didnt really mean an initiation dsteele, i just couldn't think of the word at the time Also, forgot to mention, just got back from helping my friend(Eagle Scout canidate) do his Eagle Project(this was on 22nd & 23rd). Long story short, we got the project done, but with complaints from a citizen of the community. He got us really mad, we had to call the law on him. We decided not to press charges on him, though.

A fellow scout of mine wanted to have a postion, but we didnt think he could hold any of the positions alreadt given. So we made our own. Ropemaster--this scout reports to the Senior Patrol Leader, and is responsible for teaching scout the required knots and having knowledge of other knots. He loves this position, since everyone in our troop knew he could tie knots very good(he can tie them behide his back), now everyone knows he is very good at tieing knots. What other positions have your troop made?

How much camping do you do?
Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15 replied to ozemu's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I remeber my first camp-out...... 2 backpacks stuffed to the top, and a flooded tent with cot and full bed blankets. And my latest one..... 1/4 a backpack and sleeping under the stars. It's weird how things change.... Oh yea, how old are you FloridaScout, you sound 21 or under(assuming that yur a Venturer and in school) -
That family has now left our troop, but there is talk of them coming back. If they do, would you give the scout his position back, or should he go back throught the initation(Court of Honor recite the Scout Oath and Law), or just continue on. We had been meaning to take it away from him any. Also, the committee has now found the answer they wanted. They didnt want to kick them out, but they left (thanks to 5 certain scouts and a certain leader). And the Commmittee doesnt have to let them back on. I know I shouldnt be so happy but when something happens you have been wishing to happen since Cub Scouting, you have to feel a little releived. Keep in mind, I didnt want the scout and the family out of scouitng, just out of our troop.

At least one camp-out a month, every month. Summer Camp usually lasts around 7-9 days. Also do one fundraiser a year. (Chicken Dinner) -
Well, some things of ours have changed since the last time I actually posted about the uniform. Our uniform is going to be a golf shirt that is dark green and gray, leather Boy Scout Belts, khaki pants, blacks socks, and a bed Beret if you earned it in Boy Scouts. Girls will be let in if any wish to join, we do have a female Crew Advisor. I'll mention the Bronze Award to my Scoutmaster, but since I am registered as a Venturer, I don't think he going to take it away from us who have already earned it. Also, we will meet once a month, and take lots of hih-adventure camp-out. I sat down with my SM and we taked about one day taking us Venturers to the beginning of the Mississippi River and canoe down to our part of the Mississippi. Its just a goal, but we hope to acheive it someday. Question: If you were to get the green Venturer shirt for your class A, would you have to get the pants, belt, socks, hat, etc. or could you leave the rest the same as the Boy Scout. (Save money) I heard somewhere that if you had the official Venturer Class A shirt, you had to have the official Venturer etc. True or False?

Also all you other men and women who have shown me consideration and respect. Had to say some self then delete it off, that was the edited part.(This message has been edited by Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15)

My Eagle Scout Project
Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15 replied to Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I have considered other projects. One, was to build a place for people to drop cloths, food, etc. off at a Store Front Mission(Salvation Army). Another was to re level an area of ground around another scouts Eagle Scout project. Another was to post signs direct people to a town's park. Also, I considered cementing a driveway for our church But either they werent big enough(not actually size), or they would cost too much money to raise. Also, one more merit badge left, and im done with the merit badge requirement(its Communication, and all I have left to do is to invite a guest, which is already schedled) -
My Eagle Scout Project

Planning: I can call the Blood Drive people and ask them to show up at the place and time that is convient to them and myself. I can notify the community of the blood drive. I can get a number of scouts to help with the project. Develop: How can I develop the blood drive, build the bus? By making sure it runs effiencently. Give Leadership: By getting the scouts to help the people who are taking the blood do things, and by handing out the goodies and by them putting up a tarp for people to sit around, also by cleaning up afterwards. Theres not that many things left for me to do. They wont accept it unless its something big. -
My Eagle Scout Project

The project would include all of that. In my town, there are any car wrecks. A couple of close frineds of mine died last year in car wrecks. And the blood drive bus only comes to our town three times the whole year. And I wanted to do this to give others a chance to live from a car wreck. I myself will donate blood. Also, three years ago, a scout in a Mississippi area did a blood drive for his Eagle Project, and the day before he was going to get the award, he go shot while hunting and died. Now, do you think this could be an Eagle Scout Project? -

The Eagle Conselor is my SM. And second, I not even going to comment on the second thing you said. "Quite a bit older than SPL" What? Older than SPL? Im the SPL of Troop 15. I done gave out so much info on myself alredy you should know im 14. I dont know if your making a joke or being rude, but i dont appreciate your remarks. I ask questions alot. So what. (Edited part) That was targeted to KA6BSA, not you OGE, sorry if it came out that way. You remind me alot of my SM(This message has been edited by Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15) -

O.K. I just can't seem to find an Eagle Scout project. 1st Eagle: Raised the sign of our Charted Organization another 7 inches and made a garden. 2nd Eagle: Did a food pick-up to give to the needy 3rd Eagle(well about to be): Cleaned up a town park and added a basketball court -

I will call the Blood Drive Bus and ask to come and do a blood drive. I will set up the place and time to do it. I will give leadership to the scouts in getting the people in orderly and and being kind. And also in giving out the shirts and so forth. I know what your thinking, but I can't be the person who takes the blood out, but I will be one of the first ones to give blood. It would also send a positive message to the community. -
Ok, I've found a project im going to present to my SM and the Committee. It will be a Blood Drive. The first 25 donors get a Class B shirt of ours that on the back reads" I Gave Blood For Eagle Scout Project, 2003" The next 50 will get a regular Blood Donation t-shirt, and after that you get a button. The cost I'm aware of is to get the shirts for the first 25 and the buttons, since the Blood Drive bus gives out their shirts for free. But do you tink I will have to pay them( the Blood Drive Bus)? Report back soon, if you can, and read what I replied to on the "Advice for Troop 15" topic, and reply to that too, please. "Come back soon ya hear!"

Hey, I also have another favor to ask of some one who knows alot about where to find who mad Eagle in a Council. Because, some people want to know if I will be the yougest in my Council. I know I will be one of the youngerst in my state, and nation, since to only youngest Eagle age is 14. But they want to know if I am the youngest. For some reference im in the Ouachita Valley Council: Choctaw District: Troop 15 (in Louisiana) i should be an Eagle in January if everything goes right, and i will be 14 and 5 months in January. Just something to do on the side. Thaks again -

I've returned, and now with a fresh start. Our old ASM is out, and so is the QM, so we are starting from scratch. I, the JASM, the two college ASM's, and the SM will be taking a canoe trip down the Boqachita. Yes, I do live in mainly farmland. Yes, i have a bayou behind my house(the gators! I've got a new outlook on the new sceniero, and it gonna work, trust me. See the only problem about telling the guys at school about it, well there's no problem telling them, just that I live about an 1 hour and a half from where the troop meets at. But, I have invited many, and we are starting fresh. I've been feeling before like i was being closed in, and having to do everything, but I stepped back, and i kinda conseled myself, and have come upon this new outlook. See ya later. -
Gameboys, Walkmans and the like
Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15 replied to Fat Old Guy's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I think im different from the scouts you guys know, im a cowboy and i listen to nothing but country. No loud steros and baggy pants for me. A pair of boots, hat, jeans, and my belt buckle make me a lot happier than listening to loud sounds of the cd player. Put on some good ol' Toby Keith or Willie Nelson for me. Id rather talk about the cows and farming rather than play a Gameboy. -

Dan, you've done your research on me havent you Where we live near the Mississippi River, there is hardly a spot to hike it, Myself, the JASM, and the SM would gladly hike the Mississippi near us, us three have been trying to get some canoes to one of these days goe to the begining of the Mississippi and canoe down it. None of the other scouts really want to do it, except for the PL. Also, we have three ASM, two are in college, and the other one told me he would rather not because of the risk factor(this is thwe one no one likes). Oh, i forgot, we have another ASM, a lady, she would do the canoe trip too. Committee Members? We have 12 registered Committee members, and only 9 active, and three of them are the ASM's and SM. And five of the left are women who can not go anywhere without the whole beauty salon, im not kidin. And the other one is a man with extreme back problems. So basically, not that many of the scout want to do anything to help the troop. Only me, the JASM the SM, PL, and the woman ASM really want to do many high adventure things. Me and the JASM and the two clooge ASM's did a COPE coarse, and we know none of the other scout would've done it, because we asked them. -
In my troop, the BOR is made up of the SPL, JASM, and an adult that is on the Committee(cant be the parent or a ASM or the SM, also cant be on the immediate family{brothers, sisters, etc.}) for Scout- First Class For Star-Life, another situation. In our troop it consists of the SPL, JASM, one committee member (same as above for requirements), and two or three of the merit badge conselors, unless they are the ASM or the SM, or a parent(which it shouldnt be in the first place) Eagle BOR, out of our hands

I'll try to keep this stort so i wont stir this from the real topic. there is only one patrol, and they have only 7 members. Our 50-plus year old troop is dineg and dying fast. There are no kids that want to join, we've done everthing, and my best friend wont join because of a certain person. Only three four people really care about the Troop, i mean will go on their on time and try to recruit. Me, my Scoutmaster, the JASM, and the PL. Our Scoutmaster is old. When he gets too old to help the troop, no one will really take over, so our troop is about to die. But, I'm trying to get the other two troop is our area(they have 7 members each), to merge with ours. No one want to join us. And we will neve get to go to any high adventure coarse because we are so poor. So that is our last opportunity. The DE has tryed to get people in and help recruit, but as I said, no one will join. I'm sorry to say, but the troop wont last another 5 years. Our Scoutmaster is 76, im 14, the JASM is 17(18 in Jan) and the PL is 13. Next year the JASM will be in college. I will be in college in 4 years, and in a couple of years, i dont know how well the SM will be. I'm still fighten, now lets get back to the topic.
