  1. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We never get any snow down here *sigh*. Heres a thought said by my scoutmaster who got it from another, and he from another. "Don't give any gifts this Christmas and don't receive this Christmas, why not give everyday of the year, not just one day. Also, before you open any gifts, go to your church and thank Jesus Christ, for he is the reason for Christmas. And here's another, this year don't buy any gifts, why not give something from the heart rather than the pocketbook.
  2. Yes, I have been questioned by a very respected member of these thread, but now i am beginning to lose my respect for him. Also, dsteele, i'll take you up on that deal, for that i want to give back what scouting has given to me.(This message has been edited by Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15)
  3. I am Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 15. I am a scout. I am 14. I am not a fraud. If you don't beleive this, please tell me so and why. That's all....
  4. Sorry Bob White, you also a great guy. I just dont know why you two scouter can come together for the common sake of Scouting. I beleive most of all of you scouters are great guys, so lets end the feud and you two men sign the petition also. The reason I said that he was a great guy is that he has helped me make some decisions, so has Bob White, and many other of you guys. (This message has been edited by Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15)
  5. mrs red feather, im an American, and that means being proud of your country. I proud to tell all how I feel about our country. As for the they might get offended, heres a solution, dont read it, it lets you know in the title what its about, If i said "Thank God we've got Sadam, that could offend some countries, but ya know what I dont care, because in America, if you would read the First Ten Amendments, I can voice my opinion. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanaka( Iknow its spelt wrong), and Happy New Years'
  6. Sign me up, I'm with Hops, I here enough argueing from , you guys sound just like me and my dad fighting. And Dan, me and you are 180, meaning I disagree with you, FOG is a really great guy.
  7. Those are great ideas!!!!!! Yea, I can ask some health professionals and some doctors to come in and talk to people about the importance of donating blood, and tell about the medical advantages for you and your immediate family of donating blood. And, I can get some scouts to wash peoples cars when they come to donate blood. The t-shirt will be red, and on the back have the Eagle Scout patch, and under it saying "I Gave Blood For Eagle Scout Project"
  8. I AM THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is Old Glory. I fly atop the world's tallest buildings. I stand watch in America's halls of justice. I fly majestically over institutions of learning. I stand guard with power in the world. Look up and see me. I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice. I stand for freedom. I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud. When I am flown with my fellow banners, my head is a little higher, my colors a little truer. I bow to no one! I am recognized all over the world. I am worshipped - I am saluted. I am loved - I am revered. I am respected -- and I am feared. I have fought in every battle of every war for more then 200 years. I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appomattox. I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy, Guam, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Korea, KheSan, and Saigon. Vietnam knows me, I was there. I led my troops, I was dirty, battleworn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me And I was proud. I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free. It does not hurt, for I am invincible. I have been soiled upon, burned, torn, and trampled on the streets of my country. And when it's by those whom I've served in battle -- it hurts. But I shall overcome -- for I am strong. I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have borne silent witness to all of America's finest hours. But my finest hours are yet to come. When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battlefield, When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier, Or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter, I am proud. MY NAME IS OLD GLORY. LONG MAY I WAVE. DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN, LONG MAY I WAVE. PLEASE SEND MY MESSAGE TO ALL WHO STILL LOVE AND RESPECT ME, THAT I MAY FLY PROUDLY FOR ANOTHER TWO HUNDRED YEARS
  9. I will be proud of it, I am proud of it. Im not trying to take the easy way out. When someone asks me what I did as a Eagle Scout Project, I'll say," For my Eagle Scout Project, I did a Blood Drive, and that blood that went to save peoples lives, and give them a chance to make a difference." I beleive that giving someone a chance to live is enough to be proud of. I'm asking for help, not a new idea.
  10. KA6BSA, I guess you didnt read the last sentence in my first post. As for the gazeebo, an Eagle Scout has already done one in my community. As for the yearly thing, I could and will try to see if we can make it yearly. Wingnut, those are good ideas, only problem is that we only have 9 scouts, that includes the 3 older scouts but, if I can get more volunteers, the car wash could be done.I gonna have to find out about the permission thing, i think thats about right, but I have to talk to the lady. The thing is, everyone in my community like the idea, the troop likes the idea, heck even my school likes the idea. I'm asking you scouters of more ways to show leadership, not if you beleive that it is or isnt a good project. I know your just trying to help, but please, help me by not trying to down grade the idea, but in improving it. I thought a scout was suppose to help others at all times, and I beleve that doing a blood drive will be helping many people. If you dont have any suggestions of how to improve it, then dont post.
  11. 12. Yea, thats what I was going to do, I was going to give leadership through them doing those things, but I will than the donators and the Blood Share workers.
  13. I know many of you have said that a Blood Drive isnt a good Poject, but I've been given the go-ahead. Just need to ask, what other leadership roles could be accomplished besides these: Getting volunteers and scouts to: Put out flyers go to the local radio put articles in paper putting sign-up sheets in stores going to get the t-shirts made getting the snacks getting the food for lunch to serve the worker take a report sheet to the donator to feel out before donating putting up area taking down area take pictures of the event Thats all I can think of, please add more if any, and any more positive comments as you wish. Thanks.
  14. I said sports so that he (your younger self) could make some bets and make it rich big time. I would now like to ak you what would you ask your 70 yrs. old self? (not being mean with the age thing, just thought it would work)
  15. I would aske my 15 yrs. old self would will I accomplish. What people should I avoid, become friends with? Also, which girls I should ask out! And I would have to ask, who will win every major sporting event, and the lotary numbers, and what things should I enter, and what classes and teacher to take and not to take? Come on I know some of you would tell your 15 yr. old self who would win each sporting event, so that in the long run you will be rich!!!!
  16. I meant 7 hours a DAY, 5 days a WEEK (8-3) You go 9 hours a day. Man, our schools are completey different, weekends(do you mean deterntion or Saturday school, you need to act better then) I have a bunch of conventions and things on the weekends(Beta, FFA, 4-H, Quiz Bowl, etc.)
  17. Seven hours a week I go to one of the hardest jobs.....high school. And guess what...in three year i get "promoted" to college, and then eight years after that "promoted" to law school. If only we got paid to go to school...me and hops_scout would be rich!!!!!!!!!! Had to add my two cents
  18. I'm going to bring myself here for all you as a scout who has experienced what you are trying to figure out first hand. I joined scouts with 4 other Webelos, we stayed in the troop for some while. Then, they started to drop out one, because because he couldnt hack the situations, couldn't deal with being away from home. Another droped out because he was in to satisfy his parents. Another droped out because he felt like the little kid of the troop and didnt like being with older scouts, not bullying. And the other dropped out because of an adult. Then it was me. I didnt drop out, but I did stay out for two months. I then realized that I had no fun sitting at home on Monday nights, and that I had actually made friends in Scouting. So I decided to come back, and it was the best decision I ever made. I went to White Stag JLTC, earned many awards, and am an Eagle canidate. Now some of you say that they are embarrassed to tell you why the dropped out. For one, your an adult. I know and have experienced that kids dont like to talk to adult about there problems in scouting, even though it is the best thing they just dont. Rather, they would rather talk to their best friend about it. Advise, get one of your older scouts to talk to them about it, that you KNOW for a fact doesnt even hint to bullying, and then you can most of the time get a result. When the ADULTS ask kids questions about that require their personal response, they usually DONT'T get a response, but when a fellow SCOUT asks them, you usually DO get a result.
  19. Thank you DDHII, Our Scoutmaster has been letting older scouts help out with merit badges, never let us sign them off. If you had earned the merit bade, and you were in the Venturering Patrol, he would let you help the scout get all of the requirements done, and then go to him for the final signature. Just wondering if I personally could sign them off, so thanks for letting me know this.
  20. I really respect what he did. Through all the political mumbo-jumbo, he did something I dont think any other President has done when we were at war. And he really didnt want to get any press recongnization of his act, but just wanted to show his appreciation of the troops. I really respect what he did. So, what for Christmas Pres. Bush!!! :) :)
  21. I have another question, and i know already KA6BSA will have something to say, but a scout wanted to know if i or another older scout could be a merit badge conselor. Is this true or not? I beleve you can't, but I've been told that if you have the merit badge and you have permition to do, you can be it. I think you can't but i came here so I can show the truth. Thanks again.
  22. Hey Hop, I agree with you, Toby Keith expresses exactly what i want to say. I hate it listening to all these protestors arguing about going to war to defend our country. They say we're sending them to death, I say they are being a true American. It's people like that that gave them the power to speak. Bless the Armed Forces when your eating today. Those are who we should truely be thankful for.
  23. Happy Thanksgiving! Now who's got the turkey?! I'm ready to eat!!
  24. We also have another one---Grub Master He is elected once a month, and is responsible for getting the food needed for that months camp-out. He reports to the Quartermaster and/or the SPL. I am also the Webmaster, and the "Scouting Historian"- means that if they have a question about the history of the BSA, Scouting Movements, and other Scouting Orgainzations, they come to me.
