I'm looking for the round patch used by Many Point Scout Reservation in the mid to late 60's.

In our troop we hold a TLC (Troop Leadership Committee) for the Scoutmaster and the scout leaders once a month (the Monday after campouts) from 7-8pm. After the scout TLC, we have a Scout Master TLC for the Scout Master, any ASMs, the Advancement Chair (me), and any adults that are the adult in charge for the last or next events. We try to told this meeting to a half hour (usually less than an hour). At that meeting we review events past and future and end by going around the table to see if there are any issues that need to be discussed. Then, once a year in Decemeber during our Cabin Campout, the adults meet for several hours to talk about program issues (while the boys are preparing for Weblos visits in the afternoon). This works well so far. It would be great to get together more, but between regular meetings, campouts, and trying to have a life, it's difficult to carve out more time.

I don't have any alternatives for you, but we did Coral Reef Sailing at Seabase in March and had a blast. One thing to know, is that most of the boats & captains for the Coral Reef sailing are "independant contractors". They are boat owners that like working with scouts and sailing their boats, but they are not camp staff and do not necessarily have a scout background (Our captain did not have a scout background). I've heard that your experience can really vary from captain to captain, and the ammenities vary from boat to boat. Most are 40-44 sailboats. Weather and sailing conditions will effect your experience. We hit the end of lobster season, so it was very difficult to fish (so we didn't snag lobster pods). A great time, but I understand how cost can be an issue. While there was plenty of opportunities for life learning, there is very little opportunity for advancement. It was a great experience and Captain Ron rocks.

Not to be picky, but I think you mean a mnemonic (mnemonic (n-mnk)adj. Relating to, assisting, or intended to assist the memory. n. A device, such as a formula or rhyme, used as an aid in remembering). An acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women's Army Corps, or by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as radar for radio detecting and ranging. While an acronym can be a very effective mnemonic, I think there are too many letters in the scout law to form a good acronym. If you come up with a good mnemonics, I'd love to hear it, I've been trying to think of one for some time now. I keep drawing a blank. Good Luck.

Thanks to Eamonn, I found the same information that SR540Beaver provided (except I used Google Maps). I have forwarded this information to the scout's parents. He just got First Class several months ago, and already has the merit badges for Star. He will be attending one week of Summer Camp with us and then heading overseas. I'm hoping we can hook him up with a troop, since that's a much better experience than the Lone Scout route. Since he was in a troop in Germany, and has attended Camp Freedom, I suspect the troop he came from may have been from the German branch of the Transatlantic Council. Thanks again for your help.

I am the advancement chair for a troop in Minnesota. We have a scout who transferred here from a Boy Scout Troop in Germany, has been with us several years, and now will be returning home to Kirkcaldy in the county Fife, Scotland (his father works for a multi-national company). What options are there for him continuing in Boy Scouts in Scotland. Are there any good ways for him to locate a troop, or should he just become a Lone Scout? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
