  1. For the past two years I've been with my Troop no SM has ever attended any Camp outs. ???
  2. I as an Adult Leader have met the requirements to earn this award for this year. But had no idea about it. My Committee isn't very good at looking into this stuff.Something the Troop isn't good at is recognizing the adults that are behind the sceens or out front helping. Something I hope to see changed in the future.
  3. Wow. Seems I used his website to help prepare TLT in my Troop.
  4. I would say getting the adults involved to do the "Venturer Leaders Specific Training". I did it because I am interested in starting a Crew. Lot so great information in that course. I would also suggest to get the book and have it on had to follow and use. I know my Troop leadership is keen on starting aCrew, but I can only hope that our SM isn't involved. He's bad at what he's doing within the Troop, and I can only guess he will be worst with the Crew. I've asked to be involved. I may just start it before they do, to get ahead on teh game, But time is a problem to start one at this moment.
  5. My council does a Fleece Jacket in several colors with the Council CSP on the front left chest. I have ordered myself one in Forest Green to wear. I have several Scouter friends who also wear their WB Course Fleece jackets. I ordered myself and my son the Fleece jackets, and I also ordered myself the New OD Jac Shirt from my Council shop. I like the Green color/OD color because the Red Jac shirt although nice looking jacket is just a bit too red for my liking. I like to wear more greener colors in the woods etc..
  6. Our council is 60 years old. And in my area Scouting is over 40 years old..
  7. @Beavah, I totally agree. very good points all around, and hitting eh nail on the head.. I don't mind the idea of Scouters wearing Youth earned awards like the AOL, and Eagle along with Religious etc.. on any uniform doing what ever. It is about the boys, and showing them in some way that you not only have done the work yourself, but understand what they are going through helps that little bit more. Connecting with then can sometimes be the hardest part. I have several Scouters in my Troop that earned Youth Awards in Scouting from other countries, UK, Sri Lanka, etc.. so why shouldn't they too have some way to show our boys that they too were involved in Scouting and earned Scouting's highest Awards in their countries. I haven't ever read anything about this in any book on the BSA so far. We did have a US Navy Officer in my WB course that wore both the US and UK Scouter's Uniform during the course because he is involved in both Organizations. And of course WB is the one award that can be earned and worn in most Scouting countries by it's adults. Anyway, wear what you feel right about wearing. I just earned my first Knot. And I know it will be many, many years before another one is earned. But I really don't know.. SB
  8. Eagle Thanks, I already cancelled it. I from now on make all of my order with my Council Shop. Nicer, and friendly. Also very good friends there. And supporting my Council Shop supports better my Council.
  9. I have yet to hear from the Scout Stuff Shop about the problem. So they are not helping the client. Or trying to mend any fences.
  10. Bad idea, bad taste, and no place at a meeting.. If the guy wants to do that, then buy commercial time..
  11. To think about it, I know that there are shops that make the military helmet band name tags that are embroidered and sewn on. I'm sure you could have then make a tan one with black or red lettering. maybe check with US Cav on-line shop.
  12. Maybe go to a shop that sells sewing materials, and see about finding a matching tissue. That is a good idea though..
  13. How long has these Scouter's decorations /awards been around. I never saw anything like this when I was a boy in Scouting, although that wasn't in the 60's was in the late 70's. damn! I just did a mental calculation and realized that I'm getting old.. never used the 70's and myself in the same phrase before..
  14. That's a good idea. When I get the one I ordered, I'll see about doing it that way. I remember in the Army wearing our Summer Class 2B2s, but with all of the salad on it.. was a killer on the pecks..
  15. Well, I just found out that I'm being awarded my first knot. " Scouter's Training Knot". So I'll wear it. Probably be my last one anyway. In my area they have no idea about knot's a stuff like that..
  16. At Wood Badge I was given a leather name holder. Due to all of the stuff we had hanging off of our uniforms, i sewed the extra Shirt button under the left side pocket flap and wore mine there. I still wear it there because I haven't gotten my new order name tag from the Scout Shop yet. I do like the leather holder better because there's no pins on the back to stick into my chest.
  17. Great story.. And man did those Scouts look sharp..
  18. I remember thinking when I got back into Scouting last year that I wanted to go to WB. SO I had a great incentive to get the Basic Training under my belt. I got to WB, and am looking forward to any future role in my Unit, District and Council. I hope to continue my training, and attend some other training courses like Philmont Leadership COurse, and hopefully Powder Horn n the next few years. I want to bring back this training experience to my unit, and get other leaders to attend at least basic training. I am one who believes in training, and education. Getting the adults and scouts to get trained, and NYLT for the boys hopefully this next year. Problem that been for me and my unit is the distance from District training events. ANd getting District to get down to my area. Leaders in my unit don't have the time to drive 6 hours to a training course. Until I get support from District it's like pulling teeth to get people trained.
  19. I would first suggest you set up a meeting with all of the parents and your adult leaders and explain this too them, and let them have the chance to ask questions to try and clear this up. Most of this sounds like a commo problem. But I do know the problem with parents from Private Schools.. more moeny usually, and all they do is complain, but don't want to get in and help..
  20. What! Take me seriously or you seriously.... I have to admit that I was a bit out of it last night. I just spent the whole day out with my Troop on a Land Nav course I set up. I have a Herniated Disk in my lower back, and I just learned Friday, that I will need an operation in a few weeks. Because I drove yesterday I didn't take the Morphine for the pain during the day, only last night. Well, I had to take it a bit earlier soon after I got back due to some bad pain after yesterday. I was just reading my reply, and I'm sure you might have also noted, I could barely type in any thing correctly. So I am sorry for my reply.
  21. I have not problem with the BSA going that way. I never said I did. Maybe you should buck on your reading.. I said that every time something comes up. People start crying about this issue. and I mean every time. Can't anyone stay on subject? Now if you'd like to discuss the Uk Scout with out crying about how the BSA still hasn't changed to mixed scouting then be my guest..
  22. Let's keep our opinions to ourselves. This is about how big UK Scouts have gotten. Not how the BSA still hasn't mixed boys and girly in it's Scout program. Every time I see something like this. there are those of you who start up..
  23. I'm a Unit Leader, and have been asked to Staff IOLS and Wood Badge. I am also looking forward to Taking the EDGE Course to become a Trainer.. I think that here in our Council, they don't want the "usual suspects" always giving the Training. They work hard to mix things up.
