  1. Have you talked with your council? National statement on COVID - https://www.scouting.org/coronavirus/
  2. Hey I know that guy. @TAHAWK your council knows who to call if they have a question. There is no longer a volunteer facing interface outside the local council so any inquiry is going back to them,. And shooting at each other is still prohibited. In case you want to review other prohibited activities: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss07/#b
  3. Perhaps one of you could point out where it enables an CO to do events for others in the name of scouting on behalf of the local council or BSA? I don't think you are going to find that in there.
  4. Theories aside, perhaps one could review the CO agreement to see what is chartered or not? https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/membership/pdf/524-182_web.pdf RichardB
  5. https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss07/#b See #16 & 17 @InquisitiveScouter And don't worry, working on your suggestions on tool guidelines. RichardB
  6. The purpose of the BSA National Camp Standards are to: 1) Promote the health, safety, and well-being of every camper, leader, visitor, and staff member while participating in a BSA-accredited camp program. 2) Guide councils so that each camper and leader obtain a quality program consistent with the BSA brand. If you would like to actually review the standards, resources and FAQ's (for the source on the above statement) on Short Term Camp: https://www.scouting.org/outdoor-programs/camping/short-term-camp/
  7. Or a more positive way of looking at this would be these venues offer an opportunity of proof of concepts at scale.
  8. Going to have to budget for non registered folks who participate. Probably upwards of $6 per participant, per year for a nationwide solution. Willing to add that on, or subsidize it let me know.
  9. This has a high probability of use in a future communication....
  10. Some thoughts on doing it safely https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-693.pdf
  11. https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss07/#b See #13.......
  12. @John-in-KC there was a reduction in the National Council Staff by 110 positions yesterday. These are trying times, I have no desire nor inclination to join the debate or speculation here. Good people, who care about our country, our youth and the program of the BSA are no longer employed. Keep them and Scouting in your thoughts and prayers. RichardB
  13. Buy once, cry once is a good motto for medical gear. I've taken a fair number of temps lately for some reason. 1) If you are using the cheap oral thermometers, you really need to wipe it down between and clean hands between each person. Oh, and change your gloves each time. 2) The no contact is the way to go. Shoot the forehead from a gloved hand.
  14. "Blood circle" is a little more plain and transparent to most than a generic "safety". Conveys outcome of being in the circle. In the COVID-19 era might become - "Cough Circle" - While wearing an approved face cover, extend your arms toward each other, fingers extended. If you touch you are too close. Oh and now wash those hands. Potential to reduce droplet or touching during this testing with the use of a staff / stave was abandoned early on as too many impact injuries were predicted (including those intentional ones while practicing).
  15. If this was a BSA council camp, please send it to me.
  16. Nope, not the same criteria. MBC is registered, but you left out unit leadership approval. MBC isn't a unit position.
  17. Definition of Registered can be found in Scouting's Barriers to Abuse: Source: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss01/#a The chartered organization representative, or in their absence the executive officer of the chartered organization, must approve the registration of the unit’s adult leaders. Registration includes: Completion of application including criminal background check and mandatory Youth Protection training Volunteer Screening Database check As mentioned in the post above, a MBC isn't a unit position, and it's certainly not designed to replace the direct contact leadership needs of a unit (SM, ASM). It is as described here: https://www.scouting.org/programs/scouts-bsa/mb-counselor-guide/ Wouldn't common sense include that one should be properly registered and classified according to the roles that they plan to fulfill for youth?
