  1. Tamara Thomsen, a maritime archaeologist, first spotted the canoe while riding an underwater scooter in the Lake Mendota in June. Thomsen initially speculated that the boat was made by Boy Scouts in the 1950s, reports Sophie Carson for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. But when archaeologists removed a sliver of wood for carbon dating, they realized the true age of the vessel, which was likely built by a group known as the Effigy Moundbuilders. ... Wisconsin State Archaeologist James Skibo tells CNN that he was surprised to learn how old the canoe actually is. “I looked at it and it was in such a wonderful state of preservation that I was very suspicious ... because wood typically doesn’t survive that long,” he adds. Skibo says the boat most likely survived intact because it was constantly wet and shielded from sunlight at a depth of about 27 feet. Currents had moved the vessel from its original resting spot, so the archaeologists knew it would only be a matter of time before algae and other organisms destroyed the wood. ... The Effigy Moundbuilders were Late Woodland people who lived in what’s now Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa between 750 and 1200 C.E., Rosebrough told Elizabeth Dohms-Harter of Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) last year. While earlier groups living in the area built conical or linear mounds, the Effigy Mounds were shaped to look like animals or spirits. Thousands of mound sites have been found in Wisconsin alone, each potentially containing hundreds of different types of mounds. Nov 8, 2021 “The U.S. has changed a lot,” Dan Ownby, the Boy Scouts of America’s National Chair, observed while visiting the Medici Museum of Art on Sunday to see and critique the vast Rockwell collection the BSA owns. “He was showing the diversity of the world.” More at source link: https://www.tribtoday.com/news/local-news/2021/11/boy-scouts-national-leader-tours-medici-to-see-rockwell-paintings/
  3. I will past your disingenuous comments over to other moderators to review. As you previously stated about yourself, you are "a claimant and a former practicing attorney", contrary to your claims of being a dunce. @MattR@T2Eagle @elitts @gpurlee @Eagle1993
  4. It was business advertisement sent out as an email which was subsequently posted on this forum. As explained then and I repeat now, Reminder from Forum Moderator Policy "Posts which advertise products, services, or fund solicitations will be deleted and the member asked to pm Terry-Scouter regarding paid advertising. " Seems clear enough.
  5. These are getting like "...you got Medicare options.." emails. Have you received a paper ballot via US Mail, if not I suspect you will soon.

  10. Update: USA Gymnastics Plan 2 Oct 25, 2021: U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robyn Moberly signed off disclosure statement for vote. Nearly all insurers involved have said they would back the deal, according to court papers. TIG Insurance Co is the only insurer that has not yet committed to fund the settlement."" 11. Portray a desired public appearance while maintaining control and limiting exposure and liability. Is an independent, empowered YP task force possible? Another $0.02,
  12. IMHO, the answer is right there in quote. A BSA Committee is advisory and the Working Group is not yet a Committee. Let's take an example, the United Church of Christ (UCC) Scouting Work Group prepared a Memorandum of Understand (MOU) which was approved and signed in 2016 by Rev. Dr. John C. Dorhauer, General Minister and President of the UCC, and Michael Surbaugh, National Scout Executive for the BSA. https://www.ucc.org/scouting_working_group/ Note in above link, all members of the UCC Scouting Working Group and their positions are named?? My guess, the United Church of Christ (UCC) Scouting Work Group was formed and controlled by the United Church of Christ and not the BSA. My guess anyway. Forgot, my $0.02, P.S. Also in 2016, the UCC Scouting Working Group sought qualified persons to serve as UCC Chaplains for the 2017 Boy Scouts of America Jamboree. https://www.swcucc.org/faith-in-action-blog/2016/10/31/a-call-for-boy-scouts-chaplains
  13. Thanks. He is happy and becoming independent - finding his way, HIS WAY, which make him more happy.
  14. @GeorgiaMom congratulations to your son. My son just wanted to be one of the guys.
  15. The Coalition of Abused Scouts has represented clients and been involved in this case for more than a year. Hardly lately.
  16. Looking back, the Coalition grew their client base such that Judge Silverstein felt they deserved a place in the mediation. Aug 20, 2020 MOTION OF THE COALITION OF ABUSED SCOUTS FOR JUSTICE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MEDIATION https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/842768_1161.pdf By October, 2020 "Late last week, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Laurie Selber Silverstein allowed the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice to join mediation discussions, giving a group representing 28,000 clients a say in any future settlement. 17. Was there any mention of the selection process during the last online meeting? I suppose we could petition via change.org .
  18. Filling in a few names: 1) the CEO/Chief Scout Executive, - Roger Mosby (2) the Chair of BSA's Safe Scouting Support Committee - ???? (3) the Executive Vice President and Youth Development Officer - John Mosby (4) the Director of Membership Standards - ???? (5) the Chair of BSA's Audit and Risk Management Standing Committee of the Executive Board - ???? and (6) a representative of the Ad Hoc Committee of Local Councils. - ????
  19. So the position of the Chair of BSA's Safe Scouting Support Committee replaces the position of Director of Youth Protection for the BSA? Also some survivor members of the Survivor Working Group have already been selected and named?
  20. ...The Survivor Working Group will work with BSA leadership to, among other things, continue to enhance the BSA's current youth protection program, discuss and address survivor concerns, assist in preparation for and implementation of the non-economic commitments of the BSA under the Plan of Reorganization, and discuss how to expand the input of survivors at the national and local council level. The Survivor Working Group will be comprised of between 15-20 members, including between 8-12 survivors who are members of the Coalition, and at least 6 representatives of BSA, including (1) the CEO/Chief Scout Executive, (2) the Chair of BSA's Safe Scouting Support Committee, (3) the Executive Vice President and Youth Development Officer, (4) the Director of Membership Standards, (5) the Chair of BSA's Audit and Risk Management Standing Committee of the Executive Board, and (6) a representative of the Ad Hoc Committee of Local Councils. Importantly, the Coalition demanded that the Working Group be open to all survivors, to ensure that all perspectives are heard. ...This announcement follows a recent commitment from the BSA to appoint a survivor to its National Executive Board. Both the formation of a Survivor Working Group and the addition of a survivor to the BSA Board are the direct result of Coalition negotiations with the BSA. 21. Statement on city website https://louisvilleky.gov/news/settlement-reached-explorer-claims Settlement reached for Explorer claims November 01, 2021 The Boys Scouts of America and its related local organizations and Louisville Metro Government, through its legal representative Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell and his office, have negotiated a settlement that resolves all claims involving seven lawsuits related to the Boy Scouts of America Explorer program. $3,650,000 will paid to seven plaintiffs, with more than $3 million of that amount coming from Old Republic Insurance Company, the insurer for the Boy Scouts of America. The remainder will be paid by Metro’s self-insurance under the Louisville Area Governmental Self Insurance Trust. Per the settlement agreement, counsel for plaintiffs will retain an independent third party as a settlement arbiter to allocate the funds between among the seven plaintiffs as the arbiter deems appropriate based on the facts and circumstances of each claim. The first of seven lawsuits was filed on March 8, 2017 in Jefferson Circuit Court. The attorney in that case, then Metro Council President David Yates, was later disqualified for his conflict of interest. Mayor Greg Fischer suspended the Explorer program on March 13, 2017 and on March 17, 2017 appointed former U.S. Attorney Kerry Harvey as special investigator into allegations about the program. Harvey’s report was released in June 2018. “Since the beginning of the Explorers case, my ultimate goal has been to find the truth and get justice for the victims,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “It’s our hope that this settlement brings some closure for those involved. We must continue our work to ensure the appalling interactions that led to this investigation never happen again.” Three LMPD officers pleaded guilty to federal charges related to allegations that occurred related to the Explorer program. In 2018, the matter was transferred to federal court where the Plaintiffs were represented by Tad Thomas. The cases were settled on October 29, 2021.
