Some questions: What percentage of your scout leaders were scouts? Reading posts here, my impression you have a higher percentage than we. Do you have "Family Camping" in your program? Modest Proposal: Maybe we should relocate BSA HQ to Britain for this transition.

Well stated @@njdrt-rdr , @@Tampa Turtle IMO, more scouters will leave over National's lack of trustworthiness and leadership and invasive Family Camping than girl membership. -

How do you choose which leaders/adults go to camp?

Offline, decide how many and which adults you want, then individually ask each to volunteer. My $0.02 -

Conversation or bickering? My point is stay on topic, the debating coach argument is not relevant. -
Is the BSA the only scouting organization with age overlaps among its programs? From the Scouting Association Cubs (8-10 yrs old) Scouts (10-14) Explorer Scouts (14-18) Scout Network (18-25) No overlap, no poaching.

Okay debate points made. Where is the transition plan and its goals or will National pay an outside consultant firm to produce one in the next 3 months (God help us)? -
Well what were results of the pilot programs prior to this decision?

IMO, I think officially "local option" will require pre-conditions. Rather than the nonsense of staff and train months later in time for re-charter, it will be done before a unit can locally opt to be coed. My $0.02 -

The issue with girls in Scouting
RememberSchiff replied to HelpfulTracks's topic in Issues & Politics
Wow. I have not read that the membership increase would go entirely to pay for liability insurance. BSA did not respond to questions about the ongoing lawsuits, but documents indicate that costs related to these cases may be one reason why BSA is beefing up its insurance reserves by making some changes to increase revenue. The organization recently announced that it would be increasing annual membership fees from $24 to $33 beginning in December. An email to area participants from the Glacier’s Edge Council, a BSA unit that encompasses parts of Wisconsin and Illinois, explained why: The Boy Scouts of America has seen a dramatic increase in liability lawsuits which has decreased our movement’s financial position by between $40 to $50 million annually since 2010. An increase in the annual membership fee is required to financially stabilize our movement. All of the funds generated from the increase will go directly to the National BSA General Liability Insurance Fund. -

Only their "sealed" references need to come. I know every council handles Eagle BOR's different and that never sounded right to me.

Thomas had noticed his mother's driving license had a heart donor icon and asked what it meant. He then said he wanted to be a donor too.
