I did contact the group that created it and they gave me a ton of info and I think it has potential and something that I am going to get my kids to try.

Instead of selling Popcorn.. scouts can sell treasure maps. The site gives a list of various ways for the scouts to sell them. The neatest part is that once they create the maps, they get bought over and over again form the traffic that goes to the website.. it is reoccurring revenue source with out having to do the work over and over again. Once a scout troop creates a portfolio of maps, they have a revenue source every month. I saw that there are Date night treasure maps as well that can besold to parents or couples around valentines day.

I have been caching a ton of times and it was always dissappointing to not find the cache.... However the people that buy the treasure maps look like they get to have an adventure for 2 hours and that seems to be what you are paying for, not the prize at the end. I think we might give it a shot.

I realized I didn't include the website www.treasuremapbroker.com People apparently buy and sell treasure maps that take you on 2 to 3 hour adventures that have you solving riddles and doing challenges...at the end is a box hidden somewhere... you take something and leave something much like geocaching.. People are buying adventure.

Has anyone every tried to create a treasure map and have their scouts sell it? If so, did it go over well? Seems like they would enjoy making one and it definitely would be unique. Thanks

Yes, there is a prototype at www.treasuremapbroker.com under map example. That is just an example of the type of map that I would find fun. Your troop can create any type of adventure they like any thing from the surburan adventures including date nights and local park adventures that they could sell to their parents, to overnite adventures in the mountains that they could trade or sell to other troops. Where is your troop located? In Columbus, Ohio there are three maps you can try if you are near. I have just created a web site where scouts can create treasure maps that take people on an adventure solving riddles and clues that lead them to several locations and eventually a treasure. It is a spoofed-up form of geocaching except you use your wits, skilling and cunning instead of a GPS. My thought is after the scouts create the maps they can post them on treasuremapbroker.com and sell them. I was an Eagle Scout and I know I would love the idea of selling Treasure Maps instead of popcorn. I am looking for responses as to if this idea would work or not. I have a page dedicated to Scouts on the site. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
