  1. Earth to KDD! Yeah, there are LOTS of places, whole states. Probably not a good idea to try entering a bank like that though, regardless of the state, lol.
  2. Moosetracker, you mannerless heathen, lol, Just kidding, but I can tell you with great confidence that the end of slavery and losing 'the war' WAS the end of society as the South had known it. Edit: Hey! I just realized....not all collapses are bad things! In those immortal words of the worst President of all time, "Bring it on!"
  3. I guess you're specifically addressing Florida while I'm addressing other states. There ARE state-by-state differences. BTW, Florida does prohibit open carry of long guns, except for hunting and other specific activities.
  4. OK, in what states does SYG only apply to CCW permit holders? That sure isn't true in this state. Edit to add: I've checked TN, NC, SC and GA so far and none of them mention anything about CCW in the law. Nor is this even mentioned in the descriptions or discussions. Looking further, there are plenty of states that allow open carry. Nearly all of them allow you to carry a long gun.
  5. Next time I find some hunter on my property, SYG has me completely covered. Nice.
  6. MattR, What you just described as the good part isn't organized religion. It's your personal view and your personal way and that's great. I completely appreciate the personal aspect of faith.
  7. jblake47, you can be sure of this: 'They're' everywhere. And 'they're' ALL out to get you. Muhahahahahaha!
  8. I'm living an a wonderful time compared to what was happening in the 1950s.
  9. True enough about that law. 'Stand your ground' is practically a license to kill...as long as you make sure you do kill. The lesson here is to make absolutely sure of your deadly aim.
  10. Basementdweller, you just reminded me of some terrible things I've witnessed. You're right.
  11. Slippery slope? C'mon, I've been hearing that stuff my whole life. It was Communist infiltrators and racial integration in the 1950s. It was rock music, Beatlemania, long hair, the Vietnam War in the 1960s. This nonsense is perpetual and yes, once in a while there actually IS a collapse of some kind and it just energizes the 'chicken littles' to continue their rants. What moral decay was it that caused the Inca Empire to collapse on itself? Aztecs? I'd mention the British Empire but I might offend our friends across the pond who think it still exists. As far as concern about gay marriage goes, I am not the least bit concerned by it. As far as I can tell, gay marriage seems to be mostly the concern of a perspective that seems to be consumed by things sexual. Gay marriage doesn't concern me at all. Gays should be granted the same rights as other citizens, including marriage. No problem.
  12. There is another old thread that you probably remember, started by Trevorum and titled, "The times they are a'changing" or something like that. And I agree. It is an evolutionary truism that those entities that cannot adapt to change tend to experience the selective process in a negative way. BTW: http://www.mcdonaldsindia.net/burgers-and-wraps.aspx Some of those are quite tasty.
  13. Here's what you wrote: "It amazes me that some people consider the desire for a mate of the same sex as more mature than the desires of any other kind of relationship. Folks keep wanting to equalize homosexuality as a normal healthy lifestyle when my observations of friends and family are anything but. Oh sure, some gays find a stable relastionship, but that isn't normal for that lifestyle. On the whole, gays are some of the loneliest people I know." I asked for you to clarify, "what is this 'normal' concept you mentioned in your comment? Is it the same 'normal' that everyone else sees, or is it a personal concept in your own mind?" And then I asked again, "More mature? What do you mean by this, both parts, the 'mature' thing and the 'more' thing?" Those are the questions that I asked.
  14. OK, if it makes you feel better, I'm self-righteous. OK? Now, you're still free to answer the actual questions I asked.
  15. Then answer my actual questions.
  16. Whether or not I'm self-righteous has no bearing on the issue. And I didn't address that part of your accusation, BECAUSE it isn't relevant. You can think anything you want about me, I'm good with it. But that's twice, now, that you've tried to avoid the argument with a personal accusation.
  17. Brewmeister, I am referring to what Eagledad wrote in another comment, that his "opinions are of the health and morality of homosexuality." He didn't write "homosexual behavior", what he stated was about homosexuality and that IS about the person and not the so-called 'sin'.
  18. Fine, make him 21. Same question. Too bad, though, that young persons aren't allowed to defend themselves.
  19. So, let's see....a person considers another person to be abnormal and unhealthy because of who they are and then, somehow, believes that in all other aspects of life those 'abnormal, unhealthy' persons are accepted and treated as equals in every other way. Is that the argument you're making here?
  20. "Trayvon started the physical altercation...." says Zimmerman. You know, I wonder how it might have played if Trayvon had his own concealed weapon and drew down on the creep following him in the rain that night. By the reasoning I see here, if Zimmerman had pulled his weapon and Trayvon had killed him, Trayvon would have been completely blameless. Am I wrong?
  21. Fred, I think your association with certain religions, the tendency of some people to stigmatize other people, is in error. I think the tendency of some people to stigmatize others will remain with them regardless of the presence or absence of these religions. Some of us are just like that. I would like to think it's not an innate quality but I could be wrong and it might be innate to some people.
  22. I'm good with it as long as all parties freely choose to enter into that kind of relationship. Glad to see that we agree on this, surprised actually.
  23. Eagledad, they aren't lonely when they visit my home or when they're with the same circle of real friends that I have. This is because we don't reject them because of who they are. They are accepted fully just like everyone else and they know it and sense it in our interactions. That might explain why they seem 'lonely' around you. Or...it could be you're merely a poor judge of these things. So, what is this 'normal' concept you mentioned in your comment? Is it the same 'normal' that everyone else sees, or is it a personal concept in your own mind? And you also mentioned, "...some people consider the desire for a mate of the same sex as more mature than the desires of any other kind of relationship." Huh? More mature? What do you mean by this, both parts, the 'mature' thing and the 'more' thing?
  24. MattR, while I sympathize with your 'bafflement', you're still way ahead of me. Organized religion, in general, baffles me. It is one of the behaviors for which my (normally trustworthy) explanation for humans fails (which is, simply, we are monkeys). Monkeys (as far as I know) don't even have organized religions. And that leaves me in perpetual bafflement. H'mmm....on reflection, perhaps 'baffled' isn't the best description for what I feel....horrified fascination..........
  25. OK, I get that you think Trayvon rightly paid for his mistake with his life. So why is it again, that you think Zimmerman should get off scot free for his mistake?
