  1. To all of you trying to answer for me, I have one thing to say. BUTT OUT! I do not need you defending what I say. I meant exactly what I said, there was nothing said here that anyone should have gotten all wrapped around an axle over. So chill.
  2. BW, If you had read the post it deals with LIABILITY insurance, accident or medical was not the question. BSA will always be there on liabilty end becuse they are gonna be standing next to you in court and they have the deep pockets.
  3. my opinion is that you have one major problem to overcome first. " But the committee member that wrote the list is the wife of the previous scoutmaster. " Sounds to me like she wants to keep things as her husband ran it. Was there anything like this under the previous SM? I suspect not! Time to stand up and say , no thanks, I don't need these guidelines.
  4. BSA insurance will cover you even if you are not so smart and don't file a tour permit. They have no bearing on insurance coverage in any shape or form. Thats an OLD urban legand along with you must travel in uniform to get insurance coverage.
  5. I can shed some light on some of CNY's quetions. I am on his council Training team from a different district. We was approached by the CE about implimenting mandatory training for all leaders. The 3 yr timeframe was what we advised him would probably take to get to that point. The CE is serious about dropping units if they defy the mandate. There is plenty of time to attend training IF YOU WANT TO! Insurance had nothing to do with discussions as the carrier for Liability Insurance is the same nationwide. It is solely an issue of un trained leaders putting on a substandard program. He felt as did many of us that a Trained leader almost always puts on a better program.
  6. We discouraged any other youth from attending, strongly discouraged. This would include brothers or friends in other patrols.
  7. In our lodge and is standard practice in most lodges, elections take place only during the spring time. Ours must be Jan-May timeframe. I would say if thats the Lodge policy then you need to wait till after the new year.
  8. Would the Staff member that edited GB response care to share? I wish also that if you edit someones posts you Identify yourself not just "(This message has been edited by a staff member.)"
  9. Thats not a new rumor, I have heard it for several years and it hasn't turned out true yet.
  10. I would echo OGE's comments. Why did the committee choose him? Did he suddenly go on a power tip overnight?
  11. I think they should open all the rest of the Canals flood the whole shooting match, give every family 100K and leave the city to rot away. Seems like we never learn, here we go you and I are gonna have to pay to rebuild in the same below sealevel spot.
  12. We provide each scout a Note book like Eadgle Dad talks about. Its a 3 ring binder with a cover with his name. Inside is a copy of troop roster, MB list, Troop guidelines, Copy of his advancement records from Troopmaster and a copy of the troop dicipline agreement that the scout, parents and Sm signs annually. He is also given BB card protectiors to keep MB cards and other cards in. After he gets Notebook its up to him to maintain and organize it. We schedule on calender about once a qtr for them to bring in natebooks for new paperwork. It has made record keeping so much easier.
  13. Time to tell mom to back off. She needs to stay home and not go on campouts or meetings. I would not make any accomindations until I saw the IEP.
  14. We keep track and list it on the troopmaster printout the keep in thier scout notebook. They get new printout about every other month.
  15. If you had read the Alaskan papers account at the council web info you would know thet there was 2 tents. One for each troop. The first one was not under lines at all. The reason the rented these tents was it was cheaper than transporting all the required tarps all the way from Alaska. They did the same thing in 2001. There were other troops at Jambo that did it also. I venture in all the hustle and bustle no one did the simple thing of looking up.
  16. 2 things. While CAC people like to advertise it as the oldest camp its not . And a lot of councils have camps just as nice as it if not better. As for National investing money in this camp, I think not.
  17. Most registars won't issue cards unless you ask for them because most adults don't want them and they cost council money to buy cards
  18. We did this 2 yrs ago for the water carnival at summere camp. The boys hat a riot making and sailing the boats. I would recommend this as an activity at any event where you have water.
  19. Now here is a discussion all the gearheads can really get into. I personnally never liked leatherman since the first time I used one it pinched my hand. I am a GERBER man myself!!!
  20. It is a feature in Scoutnet that the registrar can turn on or off as to wheather cards for multiple registrations are issued. Atleast thats what our council tells us. It saves them money to not issue cards for multiple positions.
  21. but if you bought tan uniform it should be good for a few years especially for the adult.
  22. Actually a SM cam count Philmont if he chooses. The SM is the final arbitrator of what constitutes camping and the lodge cannot challage him if he says you are eligable.
  23. this is a very confusing post. I can't figure out what they are talking about.
  24. Try this one. http://home.earthlink.net/~scouters/chair.html
