first off no one can seize property that doesn't belong to them, and contray to popular misconception a CO does NOT automatically own the property and funds of a unit. If you can quote me a BSA R&R that says they do, I sure would like to see it. Not even the BSA legal department will tell you that. Been through this discussuion many times.

Nope, not in my court, and not according to the supreme's eaither

While this sounds cool and I imagine it it is these chemicals are very causic and should not be used in such a manner. If one one the scouts spills it or splashes it on him self it could be a problem. I would never allow cutting of the protective shell on them.

End of Honor groups not meeting OA standards
nldscout replied to nldscout's topic in Order of the Arrow
I hope personally that this is not true, Thats why I asked to see if anyone else's pro's had mentioned it. This would I beleive divide councils that have other than OA groups that have cooexisted peacably for years. -
Get a young eager shyster lawyer, Sue everyone in sight. Let the chips fall where they may.

End of Honor groups not meeting OA standards
nldscout replied to nldscout's topic in Order of the Arrow
The gentleman has nothing in writing, just what was discussed at the puzzle palace in Irving. Supposed to take 6months to a year before policy comes out. Guess we will have to see. -
After a conversation with a highly place professsional source who just returned from Irving he told me that there are new rules coming relating to Honor Groups in councils. New rule says they all must comply with OA standards relating to Membership, leadership, and organization. Basically if you're not OA it may mean the end of your Group. nldscout replied to LongHaul's topic in Issues & Politics
It will be years before this is finally deceided. That said, in order to make Jambo fair to all, lets move it to the west coast, say maybe Alaska? I always wanted an excuse to go hunting in Alaska!! -
Model Rocket Multi Launch Pad Plans?
nldscout replied to VinceC's topic in Open Discussion - Program
we have done it with 3 launches, all independently controlled. The thing I wouldn't like about a multiple launcher is what happens if your working on a rocket and someone activates the launcher by mistake. Your in a world of hurt then. -

Model Rocket Multi Launch Pad Plans?
nldscout replied to VinceC's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I have never seen anything like that, one reason I suspect it it would be a safety issue. Why not just get 4 individuals one and sat the close to each other -
Help save Camp Flying Eagle, Help save Red Dog

My understanding is nothing was wrote into any paperwork. That being said, things in a council change that may cause a reevaluation of council priorities. -

Beading Ceremony--At Who's Convenience?
nldscout replied to MarkS's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
My response would be that I sure wish you could have made it, but it is my option and I have already planned it. I hope you have invited your fellow critters from your WB patrol -
Beading Ceremony--At Who's Convenience?
nldscout replied to MarkS's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
Why must the CD be there anyway? Its not written in stone. Ask him to send the stuff to your WB trained leaders in Troop to present. -
Charcoal lighter is not classified as liquid fuel, atleast not in our council. Mitchlight charcoal definatly is not liquid fuel. As to the burning of human waste, hmmm. Seeing as I spent years deplyed with the Army, unless I had to and had no alternative I would not do it again. But if you must and there is no other choice remeber the rules. 1. Stand upwind. 2. Don't eat a big breakfast before you start. 3. Stir fuel in mix before you light(or you may have a spectacular explosion. 4. DO NOT serve chocolate pudding for desert for a while or you will get some really gross comments.

nldscout replied to karent's topic in Scouts with Disabilities
"Had our Committee meeting last night and the Mom attended. We finalized the steps to adjust rank requirements." Only the Council Advancement Committee can approve adjusted rank requirements and only then with-in certain guidelines that they have -
Merit Badge requirements for LD Scouts
nldscout replied to karent's topic in Scouts with Disabilities
A true LD scout can stay a scout almost for ever and continue to work on ranks. We have a LD troop here in our district that about 2 yrs ago awarded its first Eagle. The Scout was 35 yrs old, took him that long but he persisted. -
well look at it this way. You will know whats going to be said a day ahead of time.

What is SEAL training
-
There are only a few councils that are trying the program and apparently only one has forged ahead with it in a coed form. All the rest including ours is strickly Kindergarten BOYS only.
-
Chapter Chief, If the Chapter screwed up, why should troop and boys suffer. If Trevorum OA guys do elections in other troop where was a rule broken except a local policy to keep everything above board and unquestionable. The R&R only say the election must be carried out under lodge/chapter control. Thats as little or as lot as the lodge cares to make. Fot those of us that are in widespread rural district an election team may only be one OA rep with OA guys from troop rounding it out.

Ticket Complete... can't get beaded?
nldscout replied to ATCprofesr's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
Before anyone says anymore you should know that his membership has been revoked IAW BSA guidelines. He is not eligable to receive anything from BSA anylonger, is banned from Attending BSA functions, is not allowed to be at any BSA activity. Its a bit more than he let on. -
Trevorum One way to cure this in the future is get your troop OA members to be a part of the Election team.
-
Actually the DE has nothing to do with OA, he cannot make them do anything. Elections for the OA can be handled by any team in the LODGE. Thats the important part is that the lodge doesn't have a problem with it. One way to cure this in the future is get your troop OA members to be a part of the Election team.
