We can only do our advancement on the internet, the local scout shop will no longer accept handwritten advancement forms........ So again why do I need council again???

You can say no. More slave labor for the council.......Our woodbadge makes a 60% profit which goes directly into council coffers.

Moose.....my experience is very contrary to yours.......My hispanic families love to camp.....they do it as a family. There is going to be some issues when the boys become boy scouts, but right now the whole family goes..... One dad loves to cook, so it is fantastic........

reread the OP..... So Jimmy showed up late......didn't help setup Gets benefit of program saturday..... Leaves early sunday.......Doesn't have to help tear down or clean up. Gee, what do you think would have happened if the SM sent out an email saying...... Hey, come to the scout cabin instead of pizza game place we are going to clean up the mess from the camp out......... No one would have shown up........ If you were to meet at the CO and then leave for the game place, I would not apologize, but would tell the parent that because so many boys left the camp out early it was impossible to finish the clean up in a timely and fair manner. It was decided that the entire troop would help on Monday cleaning up instead of the game place....the game place will be rescheduled for a future date. If they don't like it tough cookies. The problem with boys leaving earily is it sets a bad precedent......I don't give a hoot what you say, I bet this is not the first time this scout has done this and not the last.......The other boys bailed when they saw their chance, why should we work when jimmy left????? John.....guess I don't see what is wrong with google stream lining their privacy policies????? I am not doing anything illegal or immoral on the web so I don't have anything to worry about...... It has been my experience that folks that worried are behaving baddly on the web. My understanding is they are taking their various services, picass, youtube, gmail and others, and making a unified privacy policy. As a result all of the services under the google umbrella will share information..... So am I missing something???? what is the down side? My life is pretty boring, if they want to watch me.....have at it.

I believe responding to an email is a courtesy issue...just to let the sender know that you received it..... I send emails to 100 scout families and rarely get a response. IOLS staff are the same way.........some don't own a computer.......some don't have internet and some don't give a hoot. Just saying. Rude but typical

Help the district....... Hmmmmm, NO cub programs at the district level......No help there Boy Scout camporee's, well none of those either. Unit Commisioners none of those either Round table no program, coffee but no cookies But yet somehow last last year they earned gold, Just looked up the JTE district form.....It only has two things that relate to the boys, Increase resident and day camp attendance and Rank advancement.. Nothing about program?????

No snack....... We meet for 7-8 most have eaten dinner. Pack meeting we occasionally have a snack.

Moose.... LNT is more than just about front or back country...... It truly is a way of life. We need much more LNT in the urban environment...... I became a trainer last fall and that is what I teach my scouts. Varisty, yes......Throwing water bottles around a dug out no.....spitting sunflower seeds all over the ground in the dug out...... Digging up a playing field with cleats no........beating up a fence with a ball bat or ball no...... Tearing up the net on a basketball hoop, hanging from the rim........ Sports fields are more utilized than our camps and to most youth a much more valuable resource. It is another resource we need to be stewart's of.

Dean sounds like your Pack just needs to bag the pinewood derby I hate the competitive nature of the parents...... Playing with making it a single day event.....Show up Saturday morning make your car on site, Break for lunch then race in the afternoon. None of this ebay car nonsense or dads spending hours on axles and wheels....... Dean my son crossed over 2 years ago. I have 40+ hours invested in this years pinewood derby. Track repair, 5 workshop nights, Installing new scoring timer and figuring out software, handing out cars, trophies and on and on. We ran a complete practice race the week before the event to make sure everything was working...... I installed a new sound system in the fellowship hall of the church for the event too....... Not to diminish your contribution, but there is a lot of us out there doing the exact same thing.

Showing it to his friend is no the intent of requirement in my opinion. Here is a link to cat shows http://www.catshows.us/ I think the tricks is probably most doable for an 11 year old. I would speak with a parent about the who actually takes care of the Cat. I would then follow up with questions to the scout about what is required, just as a double check. If mom feeds and waters the cat daily and scout cleans the litter pan, or if it is an outside cat then no sign off.

I think Gilwell song in spanish would be a hoot. But more to my line on Woodbadge, It stank in English so why torture others in another language. My SM just called and said that he just saw our JTE sheet at council office and was disappointed in our score, a 1675 still gold but low. I laughed at him and said that is great, The Pack did not submit one. That's fantastic, gets filled out, Decent score and the boys could get a JTE Patch if they want.

we have done it a couple of times......Just both of troops file a tour plan separately. It is fun especially if the boys enjoy each other and it isn't a constant competition. Summer camp would be perfect. Instead of getting a random troop to share a campsite with you get someone you know.
