You send the trucks south and we'll be more than happy to load 'em and send them north. We're running out of places to put the darn stuff. I've got 36 - 40 inches covering what I wish was bare lawn and having to wait two more days for the bucket loader to finish at one of the mall parking lots before he can get to me.

That is one function that he serves at the Eagle BOR.

Thanks for the post, BA! I'm copying it on our troop website. -
"Commissioners must not be registered simultaneously as unit leaders. Some commissioners may be registered on a unit committee because they have a son in the unit or because of previous personal history in the unit, but their principle Scouting obligation should be with commissioner responsibilities. Commissioners may be currently registered in only one commissioner position." Let's say what it really comes down to - Commissioners should not be registered simultaneously as unit leaders for the same unit that they are commissioning. It would be great to have enough volunteers in the program that no one served in multiple roles, however we all know that is not the case in most areas.

Rather than running two threads on the same topic - could everyone post on: Historical MBs Brought Out of Retirement for 2010 - http://www.scouter.com/forums/viewThread.asp?threadID=263078 .

From Scouting magazine Facebook page - February 4, 2010 5:07 pm "We just spoke to the team leader in charge of the historical merit badges. The group is finalizing some requirements and will go live with the special Web site soon. They're planning to include scans from the original merit badge pamphlets with each historical merit badge. These scans will be annotated with explanatory call-out boxes to explain the early-20th-century terminology to modern-day Scouts." My comment sent to them this am: Isn't it kind of important to get the "official" requirements out as soon as possible since , I'm sure, many of us took the January 12, 2010 announcement (http://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2010/01/historical-merit-badges-help-boy-scouts-celebrate-scoutings-past.html) to be official and started working the program. We ve already had 10 % of the year in which they can earn the badge, go by. Holding up waiting for glitz and glamor on the website is doing a real dis-service to our Scouts. If you are already registered as a Merit Badge Counselor you should not have to fill out another BSA Adult App, just the MBC App.

Could we please keep this thread active? There are important questions that need to be answered if we're going to keep this Forum working the way it is supposed to!! How is it going to answer the needs of Scouters if they can't join? How are we going to get new perspective on old problems? The process is broken, how can we get it fixed? Please!!! -
Always was a sucker for dem French Apple Tastykake pies!! And a free one, what could possibly be better?

"If the parents cared about the Mission, Aims and Methods, they would agree their son needs to be present as a Scout to benefit from the program." BA - Thank God that someone is trying to run the program the way it was intended. How about to be truly active, he's not just benefiting from the program but actually contributing to the success of it!!!
-
Could it be that some people with some pertinent information have been prevented from joining the fray due to the failure of the new member registration process? Me thinks that's a distinct possabiity!!

A search on posts for the Newest Members shows that several of them were added on 11/21/2009. I know of at least one person who has tried to get registered for over a month. Is there anyone out there who can use some influence to at least get us an answer as to when registration and PM'ing may be fixed? Which will come first - this answer or one from mdsummer45? -
"I'm with bear dad on this issue. With competant supervision... I almost think you would have a better shot at overturning any sanctions that BSA,Council, or distric doled out( if they decided to ) than a scout can overturn any advancement denial." How about when Council decides that you knowingly violated set policies and guidelines therefore you were negligent and they are not going to have the liability insurance policy cover you for little Johnny's injuries. That's one of the sanctions that a Council can dole out.

"It's not like CUB SCOUTING where his age/grade will dictate his rank." Scoutfish - You may want to rethink that statement. If I remember my Cub days, age/grade determine what part of the program the Cub is working in. He then has the opportunity to earn the rank within that program.

That's not the problem, FScouter. I personally know that ones with good email addresses are not going through and that new members are not being allowed to sign up because they don't get the registration ID's emailed back to their email addresses. -

They do a great job! It's the one resource that we have that supplies all of the information that we should be able to get from BSA National and can't. Hats off to everyone involved at usscouts.com!!! -
4 Historical MBs Brought Out of Retirement for 2010
NE-IV-88-Beaver replied to BrentAllen's topic in Advancement Resources
One of the best ways to see these four badges carried forward is for a lot of Scouts to buy into the program and earn the badges. That gives us a base for asking for them to be continued. Had National wanted to give this program a fair shot, it would have been announced in October or November with a January 1st startup. Not announcing it until January 12th put councils and districts behind the eight-ball by having to play catch up with setting up procedures on recruiting merit badge counselors. Some councils still are not aware of the program. I agree that Signaling would be a great skill for BSA to keep in the program. My Native American heritage makes me encourage smoke signals be included in the requirements. -
Cub Scout Shooting Sports Shooting sports provide fun and adventure for boys. Archery and BB gun shooting teach skills, discipline, self-reliance, sportsmanship, and conservation, all of which are elements of good character valued by Scouters. Archery and BB-gun shooting are restricted to day camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Scout resident camps, council-managed family camping programs, or council activities where there are properly trained supervisors and all standards for BSA shooting sports are enforced. Archery and BB-gun shooting are not to be done at the den or pack level. Archery and BB gun shooting belt loops and pins may be earned only at the camps and activities listed above. These programs are designed to emphasize safety and marksmanship development under the direction of trained range officers using nationally approved instructional methods.
