  1. I - know - what - you - are - saying -. -- I - am - just - saying - it - is - inappropriately - named..
  2. Why?? They caused the problem by lowering taxes.. Conning us into getting into wars that we couldn't afford and there was no reason to start them except for doctored "evidence" from the Bush administration.. Then ever since they have slowed, stopped and sabotage any efforts to fix the republican made problems, because they just couldn't stomach Democrats being successful when they utterly failed. So.. yeah.. Still can blame Republicans.. Can continue to blame them until they stop being obstructionists.
  3. Well weren't we lucky that this president did win the popular vote as well as the Electoral College.. Makes him more of the peoples choice. The senate has to win the election of everyone in the state.. Therefore you can not gerrymander districts so that the popular vote of those voting democrat is twice as high as those voting republican, but still the republicans get more seats.. So yes I can say that the Senate is more an example of the peoples choice.. The house is not, regardless of what you want to call it.
  4. Yes but it was enacted in order to see if it was beneficial or not. It was not stopped because someone whipped a group of people into a frenzy with scare-tactics.
  5. So are you saying the elected senate is not elected by the people.. The elected President is not elected by the people.. Actually due to those elections not being able to be gerrymandered, Senate & President are MORE representative of the peoples choice then the house ever will be.. If the Republicans were playing all sorts of parliamentary games to keep the ACA from passing, you can't all of a sudden call "foul" if someone plays your game and out maneuvers you. Republicans played games, Democrats followed suit. Democrats won. End of subject.
  6. Most of that was bought by the Republican President Bush, who lowered the taxes to where the government couldn't fund itself, then got into 2 wars that couldn't be paid for.. So what "you" are you pointing to?? Still, I won't pay $5 bucks for your tap water.
  7. Sorry, but the 6 weeks extension has nothing to do with either the Debt ceiling negotiations or the budget negotiations. You are trying to charge me $5 bucks for a glass of tap water before I even order my hamburger, and I can't order the hamburger because you refuse to let me have the menu until I pay 5 bucks for the water.. I won't pay $5 bucks for tap water.. Sorry..
  8. We have to first get the Republicans to stop holding their breath, and demanding a ransom for a 6 week extension of spending.. Then we can go into negotiation on the Debt ceiling and the budget.. Nothing is going anywhere until they stop trying to demand negotiation on a small extension bill, and just pass it.. Then negotiations can start for the Debt ceiling the Dems will start with something the Republicans will not except, the Republicans will come with their equally absurd demands and they can both meet in the middle. Normal negotiations, after the Republicans let go of the hostage.
  9. Not without going into effect unless found unconstitutional by the court system.. Oh, yeah, that has already been played out and guess who won that round.. Now the law goes into effect, if it doesn't work, the Republicans have something they can campaign on.. If it doesn't work, they look like fools.. Oh, yeah, they already do.. So really if all your scare tactics are correct, you should be ushering in Obamacare with high anticipation that it will help you in future elections where then you can repeal it.. But, you are scared to death of it's implementation.. Wonder why??
  10. Actually, I don't spend a lot of time "watching" radio of any kind. I just don't find "watching" the radio all that interesting. But, to each his or her own. You mean you walk or drive around in you little tinfoil hat, while listening?.. Fine by me.. Your still soaking in the rhetoric.. What is weird is that you guys can listen to all the conflicting statements being put out and not see the inconsistencies.. "Where not doing this, the Democrats are". "A government shutdown might be good for the country. Show people they don't need government". "We're not going to be disrespected... we have to get something out of this. And I don't even know what that is." "“We are very excited…it is exactly what we wanted.†"We keep passing Amendment bills to open up sections of the government, Senate doesn't pass them." "85% of the government is up and running." Their statements cancel out the other statements that they are making.. Yet you guys believe every single one of them..
  11. True, sorry Packsaddle you are correct on that point.. But, I think in this case Kool is better for them to drink.. Might "Kool down their tempers".. Might "Kool down their heads", Might make them "Kool it". Kool-Aid might not want the branding of a mass suicidal/murder of Jonestown.. They definitely wouldn't want credit for the government shutdown.. But, perhaps they would be fine with the credit of bringing the Republicans to their senses and reopening the government.. Even if it is through some mass self hypnosis, that their hostage has escaped by 85% anyway so they no longer have any leverage in holding it hostage in order to meet their demands of... "Just give us something, so we can save face" are met..
  12. Hopefully your teaparty buddies in the house watch the same right-wing talk radio as you and drink the kool-aide.. If they do, perhaps they will think they have lost their leverage and re-open the government, even if they don't get Obama to give them a "gift" in order to do their job.
  13. Good news Pappadaddy (not great as great news was that you were not only getting back pay, but also that you would start receiving your checks again).. I know that the Republicans also supported this, but I also know there are a lot of teaparty voters who will be furious with this.. I heard one very nasty person voicing their opinion that federal workers did not deserve it, along with a string of other nasty disrespectful stuff about his opinion of why you deserved nothing.. It was the worst, but not the only comment from the tighty-righties I heard this week.
  14. If mainstream Republicans are going along with them, then by definition they are not a minority, at least in the House of Representatives. There are probably very few Democrats who are completely unwilling to compromise on ACA - are they, too, "extremist ideologues"? But it's not outside the legal process. All spending bills originate in the House. That is not merely a Congressional rule -- it is a Constitutional one. Again, that the ACA is the law of the land, for now, does not at all imply that it can't be debated, defunded, revoked, etc. It wasn't that long ago (1974-1995) that a 55 mph speed limit was "the law of the land." Yes they are, they are blackmailing the other Republicans with threats of setting them up to be primaried. They are equally being held hostage in this case, although they do go along on other things, they are uncomfortable holding the USA hostage.
  15. Held up the budget process.. Not shut down the government and took the USA hostage.. There is a difference..
  16. OHHHHH.. Thanks DigitalScout.. I was thinking it had to be in the water they drank, but if you look at the map of where the jihadist political suicide voters are, they are in a scattered dot formation all over the country.. I could not figure out how water holes were only poisoned in this crazy patch-work quilt like fashion.. But what you say explains it all !!! It's in them eating a bunch of rancid high-energy biscuits.. I work with someone who was a survivalist.. But, found out that last year he took a few days off from work to get rid of all his survivalist food because it had gone bad.. I don't know what he did to get rid of it, because I heard with the can goods the dump wasn't going to take it because it was so much (Don't know if that was because it was unopened and the solution was to open all of them and only take the empties in, or if he dug a pit and buried it..) Anyway point is, he got rid of the stuff and is not chewing on the rancid biscuits... Must explain why he too feels, the Tea-party Republicans have lost their minds..
  17. Sounds like you committee and CC are not doing their jobs and allowing SM to run the whole shebang.. The BOR is a committee thing, something the Advancement chair organizes and committee members make up the BOR.. Don't know why he is also intruding into scout stuff you do outside the unit (council & OA).. There he has no authority..
  18. If so then that comment about asking for an extension on the debt ceiling made absolutely no sense at all.. Because no one has done that. The extension is due to not passing a budget and not about the debt ceiling at all.. And no one is asking for it, it is already in play and the Republicans think they should be paid a ransom for it, and don't want to move on to either of the real fights until they get that ransom. You also missed the last few speeches by the president and the comments from Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid after they walked out of the meeting between the leaders on Wednesday night.. Talk was all about sitting down and discussing and negotiating on the real Debt ceiling and Budget, once the house bring the clean CR for the 6 weeks extension to the floor where everyone already knows it will pass. The Republican lead house refuses to do that. They will not negotiate with a gun to their head.. They will only negotiate when the house stop using the US as a hostage. In the real negotiations Republicans can discuss whatever they want Obamacare, the pipeline, the birds and the bees... whatever they want..
  19. JoeBob - "Oh yeah, asking for an extension on the debt ceiling BEFORE you'll even talk about the shutdown is really an attempt at compromise." Huh???? No one is asking for an extension to the debt ceiling.. What has the congress started out playing the game of "hot potato" with between Senate & the house, and what the clean CR the right now IS all about is simply a 6 week extension bill, not the debt ceiling nor the real full year Budget.. Currently the Republicans are now refusing to pass this 6 week extension bill, that would allow them time to go into conference to negotiate like reasonable adults, unless they get concessions to do so.. This is not an extension bill the Democrats are asking for, this is an extension bill that this currently being held for ransom by the Republicans.. Until they pass it, they can't even get to the real negotiations on either the Budget, or the Debt Ceiling.. The Republicans will not deal with the real negotiations on either the Budget or the Debt Ceiling unless they are paid a ransom for holding up the 6 week extension.. The Democrats are asking them to just pass it, and then they will be happy to go into conference and negotiate for both the real budget resolution and the ceiling debt.. The Republicans do not want to negotiate like adults, they want to hold the country hostage over a 6 week extension bill.. That statement of yours JoeBob says you really don't understand what is really going on.
  20. Sorry Democrats have countlessly said they will negotiate when really dealing with the debt ceiling and real budget.. But not over a 6 week extension to fund the government in order to give them an time extension for negotiations, because the Republicans REFUSED to sit down and negotiate over it for 6 whole months.. At that time they will be happy to discuss everything.. But, then will discuss nothing while Republicans are holding the US hostage.. In these negotiations they may discuss the medical device tax, but don't expect anything else from them on the Obamacare issue.. Other items may be possible.. Some believe Obama is leaning to the pipeline.. But nothing on this 6 week (now 5.5 week extension)..
  21. Removing as I read on I figured out this story to strange to be believable was not instigated by actions of the CM but from a bumbling COR..
  22. All you need is insurance, you don't need to get it through the ACA.. So get it through another insurance agency..
  23. The Right also hinders freedom of speech by passing laws forcing Teachers and Doctors to tell their pupils and patients right wing nonsense that Scientists will agree are totally false.. Also they hinder freedom of Religion with this Sharia Law nonsense or trying to enact an official religion of the state.
  24. It is also ironic the politcal ideology who loves to get between a doctor and a patient relationship and mandate the doctor tell womens scientifically inacurate lies to scare the women, force unnecessary waiting periods, and force unnecessary procedures by writing laws about it seem to think it's awful for government to require you health care, THROUGH A NORMAL INSURANCE AGENCY.. Does your state force you to have car insurance? Does that mean the come between you and your insurance agency when you make a claim?
  25. A poll on if you approve a Government shutdown in order to stop the Affordable Care Act.. 72% Disapprove, 22% Approve. So Republican stating they are doing what the American people want, and they are listening to the people.. Only in their political bubble of Rush Limbaugh.. Sorry Pappadaddy.. Sounds like it will be a long fight.. Republicans have to get that other 8% of undecided to disapprove of them. Tank a few more mid-year Governor elections, make sure the Senate gets a stronger Democratic majority, and that only the 40 to 80 house members who are in these gerrymander deep red districts are reelected in the mid-year thereby giving the Democrats 355 - 395 seats (give or take, there may be some independents..).. Securing total defeat in the 2014 elections may take them another week or two..
